I'm a compleat sucker. I bought lucy 12 years ago because if i didn't buy her she was going for meat. She was dangourous as she would attack anyone who went near her due to the fact she had been mistreated in her first two homes. I had to pay £500 for her so she wasn't sold for meat. It took me 6 months to gain her trust to let me catch her and another 6 months till i could ride her. Then i fell off her atleast once a day for a year. But now she is the perfect pony who does everything i want her to she is ridden off the leadrein and jumped by a 5year old and she hunts and leads 2 ponys. She is my pony of a lifetime and if i haddent been a sucker i would have missed out on the 12 happyest years of my life. So i agree if you can afford it and want it then go for it.

Apparently he is just limping round a paddock at the mo with a LW rug on and a stable rug on underneath that is saturated. He has been ridden 3 times in 6 weeks and ride been abandoned cos he's lame!! He's not on bute but vets want to nerve block etc to investigate further. Because this is not covered by insurance the current owner is reluctant to fork out.
Basically current owner has paid £1200 for this horse that may/may not ever become sound!!
I have been offered it for nothing.
It was the limping round the paddock thing that got me going!!

i'd have to take him our yard is full of horses my yo has taken out of pity 1ancient ex broodmare 1ancient ex riding school pony who is never going to be sound, a welsh sec b rescued from the meat man who cant be ridden, even her show pony she got for nothing because people couldnt afford her, now we are being offered a really well bred 2yr old colt who the people cant afford to feed over winter she has no room but no doubt a tempory stable will get made for him. good luck x

I think I'll leave it till the weekend and pop over a see him with a friend of mine. If I'm truely concerned myself, I'll bring him home............one more won't really make too much difference. I've got loads of spare grazing and stable if needed. See how it goes i spose!

No i.m not a someone that buys like that, not that i don,t feel for the poor chap. I Have bought sad cases in the past but it can be a expensive job so tend now to walk away. For every sorry case you find there are another ten around the corner, if i see a welfare case i just ring the appropriate authorities. Good luck with your decision.

I think I would too...yes I am a sucker for a sad case and I would spend the money on seeing if I could get it sound etc you may end up with a good horse..

oooh lets us know what you do?
