How many people on here don't own a horse?

Just curious. I've never had a horse, but I've spent most of my childhood/teens helping out on other people's yards. Just wondered how many people, like me, have never been lucky enough to own a horse but still love anything and everything equestrian!

i was the same as you untill 18 months ago..

Oh yes, I am absolutely determined I will have a horse one day! And when that day comes I will probably become a complete raving loony for several weeks from sheer excitement!

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Have ridden whatever I can sit my bum down on over the years, and now ride for a business man with hunters/eventers - and he's given me his hunter mare on loan.

Good things come to those who wait!

Me!

I think I've probably learned more riding anything that came my way than having my own horse (and my lovely previous flatwork instructor used to find me rides and then teach me on them

)

I haven't worked with horses for years but I have a half share in a lovely boy belonging to a couple of friends who have three between them (if that makes sense) - it works really well for all of us and I don't think I'd want to move on from it even if someone offered me my dream horse...! Though I have mad daydreams of taking my SM certificate and working on a yard again (don't think so, in my 30s with a crocked back...)

One day I'll have my dressage mare...!

I share one with a lovely lady.
Never owned one of my own but have ridden pretty much anything I could get my hands on.

I'm sure the majority of people do understand how lucky they are to own their own horse, but a few take their horses for granted (seen it at some of the yards I've helped at) and this makes me really sad.

Have never owned one of my own and would love to one day. Used to ride at riding schools and on a friends farm which was fab as I was put on youngsters too.

Am fortunate enough to ride a lovely gelding owned by a fantastic HHOer now!

Hey Charmaine, I'm the same as you and i'm about to start work on a Stud Farm this summer. The way I look at it is that I've had experience on lots of different horses and how to react to them!

Unfortunatly for me my parents could never afford one for me, so I just rode other peoples and did a bit of training youngsters.

I didn't until I was 21, had finished uni and started working so I could afford one. Before that I shared a horse for 4 years. I've owned my pony now for 4 years and I've glad I've got her, I dreamed of owning one from when I was 6! But they are very expensive and I'm glad I didn't get one till after uni.

I was lucky enough to have a pony when i was younger (after years of begging) sold him, and now dont have one of my own. I share the most gorgeous horse in the world though and am having loads of fun on him and he's teaching me loads. Love him.
BUT i have just finished uni and am applying for jobs and as soon as i am eanring enough, i will be getting one of my own again faster than you can say.......horse?! lol.

It is so nice to hear people really, really want their own horse...

My daughter was like that and i busted a gut to buy her own pony when she was 11. A fantastic piebald safe cob, a real dream.... 5 years on she found boys and does not even bother to see him. It's so sad cos he is great.

So now mum has to "learn" to do all horsey things.... cos mum fell in love with him and just can't let him go. Not easy at 45, i can tell you
