odd number down neck,, forelock makes it an even niumber
have a trial run with your horse and see how many suit him, bear in mind that having too many small ones looks silly, having the right number can accentuate the look of a neck, too many or too few can make the horse appear long or short necked
experiment with how you place the plaits too, higher up to give the illusion of a better neck if needed, eyc
It should be (I think) 9 or 11, not including the forlock. Saying that, not every horse has the perfect length neck or perfect thickness of mane, so as long as its an odd number on the neck its fine!
When ever I plaited my friends horse, I always ended up with 13!! This never affected her though, as she always won, so I told her its her lucky number!!
thank you shes doing pony club dressage intro and novice.weve had her 3 months and this will be first time out.shes highland x tb very pretty but mane is thick so may have a few
