My gelding is muzzled in the day and stabled at night. How many poos should he be doing as he only had two in his stable this morning. He seems perfectly fine and happy has eaten all his hay and has worked out how to eat the grass with the muzzle on. I've never had him stabled before so have no idea how many poos he would normally do :/

Thanks

My mare is muzzled during the day and has soaked and double netted hay at night so has almost constant little bits to munch on.
She does between 5-7 poos when in overnight, only time we had less - she was colicking :( her poos are fairly small though! So if your horse is stuffing his hay too quickly and the poos are bigger that might explain it?

That's what I was worrying about this morning :(.

I don't think he is stuffing all his hay down at once as there was still a little left this morning.

When he was turned out on his own I don't think he ever pooed more than 8 poos in 24 hours so wouldn't expect to see that many in a 10 hour period but defo going to keep an eye on him :(

If he's muzzled daytimes then nighttime he won't be pooping as much as he has less to process thru his belly so he may be pooping more in the field when it's all worked thru. Mine are muzzled overnight and in during the day, my mare can go all day without a poop and save it all for the field, one of my geldings can poop for England where ever he is, i go by whats in the field and that hasn't changed much from muzzled to unmuzzled and vice versa, don't worry unless the poop changes consistency drastically from soft and normal to hard and nugget like as that will indicate he isn't getting enough forage thru his belly.
