how many stable rugs?

Not had horse stabled before, anyway he will be from start of Nov. He is 10 yo tb x, not clipped.

I was thinking about buying a 200g (a shires one) rug and a 350 g (a horsewear one) rug?

Has anyone got any comments/suggestions?

yup that should be fine with maybe a fleece/under rug-i had 2 (plus a fleecy rug) for my clipped pony and he was fine!

I would sugges getting one rug with a neck or hood, incase they get cold. I'm such a softy on my horses

I have a 100g, a 250g and two fleeces for my fluffy ID. She's being blanket clipped on Saturday though so this wardrobe may expand to include a 370g ish with a hood and a 100g with a hood if she gets cold in what she's got! I find having two and a fleece is a good place to start as I can have any combination of layers, from just the fleece right up to all three on at once if she's freezing cold for some reason, which is probably very warm!
I'd say get a lightweight one and a fleece and see how you go, if he's always needing the l/w on at night when it's not that cold, then you know you'll need a thicker one for when it gets really cold.
