How many times a year do you clip?

I have been reading some posts on clipping, and it seems that a lot of people clip quite regularly through the winter months

I have only ever clipped my two once and then rugged up and they have not needed doing again... Hannah hardly grows any coat anyway, and last year Grace coped with just one clip in October.

i try with one beofre xmas and one after.
I cant be bothered with too much more than that!
Plus i use these things called to rugs! (children at our yard seem not to have discovered them yet!)

I try and only clip once, as one clip is enough, i don't get much satisfaction doing that one either, when it comes to clipping i wished i had a hairy cob, must be so satisfying to see all that hair on the floor, my boy you can hardly see any hair on the floor, its more like bum fluff !

Twice, maybe three times usually. I rug up to stop the coat growing back as much as possible, and I'm hoping I'll get away with once this year as my new horse doesn't seem to feel the cold much

Mac gets really hot. Have just clipped him (Sunday), will probably clip him again just before Christmas, and then again about March.

Year before last, I clipped him in May too.

Every 2 weeks from end Sept to beginning of Jan - bleeding animal grows hair like there's no tomorrow and I hate clipping - he sweats like anything so can't leave it any longer

OH's mare gets one clip as late as possible and that's enough - still had clip lines in April!

About evey 6 weeks all year round for my cob as he hates being hot and he get really bad mites so i have to keep his legs short, not sure about my new one probs a couple of times over the winter but i think he'll be fine in the summer.

Last year I only had to clip twice. Once in October, which grew back very quickly, and once in December which lasted through the remainder of the winter. Hopefully it will be the same this year!

We clipped the cobby type mare most of the year round, apart from early summer, just to keep her looking neat and stop her sweating. The highland would get 2 clips if working, a blanket type in autumn, then a full clip except legs around Christmas, have to do it that way so there are no clip lines for early season showing in the spring - but she is in foal this year and won't be doing much so might just take her chest off if she starts to get hot.
The IDxTB had a full clip today, apart from his legs as he has started getting very sweaty, he will need doing again around Christmas if not before

Patches grows back like no tomorrow. Doesn't matter how much I rug her, it doesn't prevent re-growth as others have suggested it should.

She's usually clipped every 3 weeks.

i gave red a chaser clip 3 weeks ago- now, im waiting for my new clippers to arrive so i can give both of them a blanket clip. hopefully, that will do them til feb, when they will be fully clipped out (to avoid any clip lines been left!)

As little as possible i hate doing it! Although i'm going to have to give in and clip Blue at the weekend i think as after 25-30mins of walk and trot last night he was starting to get sweaty and steaming loads!
