as often as necessary - have clipped welshie 3 times so far this year (could have got away without the third so far i suppose, but it's just easier to manage if she has really short hair, now I mainly ride indoors she gets quite hot.)

all of mine end up being easy to clip and I have my own clippers so it doesn't matter how often I clip.

3 or 4 times a year I think depending upon timing and how much we are doing. I did my second clip last night but if we'd been hunting she would have needed doing earlier as she was getting too hairy. I do my last one normally early January.

I have my own clippers and do it without sedation so it is easy enough to do whenever, people who need to pay someone else need to be a bit more careful with the timing to get value for money.

I clip 3-4 times a year. Mine's a doddle to clip, other than having an itchy side so that line is always wonky. I have my own clippers so it doesn't really matter cost-wise how often I do it.

My friend has the vet out to have hers sedated and it makes me really, really appreciate having an easy horse to do.

Some of the racehorses get done once others up to 5x between Oct 1st and March 17th. It really does depend on how quickly their coats grow back and how thickly.

I used to clip my sporty boy once or maybe twice if I misjudged rugging him. I've clipped supercob at least 4 times already this year and if we'd had a proper season competing it would have been at least once a month!

Last one only needed two clips. Current one looks like she is going to need doing every 4 weeks or so. I hate repeat clips with all those horrible short little hairs.

He’s going to need a second clip in a week or so, he was only done 2 and a half weeks ago. He’s still getting quite sweaty so if he will let me near his ears I’ll take more and do a blanket and take legs off

Did the first 3,5 weeks ago, will probably clip again around the beginning of december and then maybe just for good measure again on Valentine’s.

Did 1st clip in sept,3rd clip done today. I expect I’ll do another clip before Xmas. Then will clip again February time as her coat growth will slow down soon. Will do final clip late March/April time.

Did 2nd clip on Saturday(he’s needed it doing for a few weeks though...), he’s a sweaty horse so clipped him in the hot weather in September. Usually wouldn’t do first clip until October time. Expect I’ll clip him again before the New Year, then again around Feb time. I keep his legs clipped year round (can’t cope with messy heels :p) and occasionally do one clip in summer if it’s particularly hot and he’s doing a fair bit of work.

Clip first week on November &
I'm really paranoid about changing rug weights according to temperature ?

My old boy has only ever been clipped twice in 15 years. I realised that he had a fine coat Even in winter and sweated very little doing the work he did. 11yr old is hairier. I did an Irish type clip once in December last year after I bought my own clippers. This year I did it yesterday about a month earlier so may need to do it again.
