Of your stable/barn?

I am on straw, and with the two yearlings I am taking everything (Except the clean, which is not alot!) out every day!

I take out two wheelbarrow fulls of wet/poo out everyday..

So how about you?

How often do you fully clean out your stable/barn?

:)

I get a huge yard barrow full out every day - take out all the wet/muck, and leave the bed up all day. I often use disinfectant on the wet patches. I am a bit sad about mucking out, but then I enjoy it. :)

I tend to use disinfectanct on the wet patch also if it gets too grubby!

I enjoy it too! I do get ever so slightly OCD when i put the bed down, and then put them back in their 'area' and watch them ruin it and roll it everywhere!! :(

I do a full clean out everyday, taking out a heaped wheelbarrow every morning. Most at my yard deep litter and clean out the wet every 4 - 6 weeks.

I love how Shy really appreciates it though. He always lays in the same place (so he has extra straw there), and his tail is full of straw in the morning - I use the broom to brush that out. And he always wees and poos in the same place too, so less straw there - a very uneven bed. i just use my shovel to muck out, and the whole lot is out in five minutes.

While he stands at one side finishing his haynet, and supervising, and occasionally agreeing to move over to let me sweep under him.

Every day. She has COPD. So like to keep everything clean. I would leave my bed up but can't as I need to let the dust settle for a few hours before bringing in!

I knew Shy was special, but so good and well box trained in addition! What a super boy. I have always had mares before and they were always very tidy in their boxes (and where they put poo in the field) and made mucking out easy, have found geldings not as fussy and make more mess, certainly my current two youngsters need some lessons in box training, but as they live out most of time and only stand in when needed I will forgive them!!

Everyday & leave it up all day to dry. once a month I lift the rubber matting (1 mat infront of door) & let that dry out too xx

I deep litter on a fortnightly basis, but use a wood pellet and shavings mix so i gradually pull the banks down to keep the bed clean and being pellet based it drains well. Full muck out only is usually about 3 wheelbarrows. Ive found this the cheapest way of making sure my boy has a full bed and wont cap his hocks!

I throw out anything grim looking, I wouldn't ask them to sleep in a bed I wouldn't lie down in. Once a year I jet wash the walls, take out the mats and jet wash/ disinfect the floor and let the whole lot dry out for a couple of weeks.

Poo's out everyday, wet out every other day and a full sift through and leave it up so the floor dries once a week :) she's on aubiose

Every day - I leave the bed up all day if I muck out in the morning, and I leave it up for an hour or two if I muck out when I get home. My mare gets through a horrific amount of bedding (2/3 barrows a day!) but she trashes her stable so a major muck out a day is the only real way to keep it nice. The boys are quite tidy in comparison and get done daily too.

I use straw and through the winter I only take out the droppings unless the stables get very wet but I have very good drainage. Then usually at Easter I empty the stables completely and disinfect and then take everything out every day through the summer and start again with the deep litter when the weather starts getting cold again. Haven't emptied this year yet as still too cold.:(

All droppings and worst wet cleaned out daily and re-strawed. Deep cleaned once a week. All boxes being stripped and pressure washed now. Four down 7 to go!! Once they are all out we have smaller 'day beds.

I do have rubber mats at the front of the boxes which are lifted at least once a week.

Poo and wet up every day and leave beds up around sides after sweeping out wet (shavings and full rubber matting)

Rubber matting gets taken out & disinfected once a year as too big a job to do often.

Spoilt ponies

Once a yr - I deep litter! Have always done it on shavings til this yr, and having three to muck out I'd be there all day otherwise. Amazingly, the top of the bed is rarely wet and when it is I just take a bit out. I probably go through 1-2 bales of straw a week between the three of them.
