How many times have either friends or fellow yard mates called you and panicked you because your horse is laying down ??

honestly, last year, just because BB started to lay down more they kept phoning me and panicking me.

Yep! I have to warn any new arrivals on the yard that my old boy likes a siesta around 11am and usually looks like someone has shot him! Even so, I occasionally get worried messages and a photo.

yes I’ve had several phone calls including my mum to break the sad news that my old pony had died. I’m able to see on the CCTV, so even I was a bit worried, until she swished her tail!

Although annoying...i would rather someone did that than ignore a possible problem.
Mine don't seem to lie down a lot , or immediately get up if someone approaches, so if they were still down it is a problem. I am lucky, only 2 people go to the fields and they know their individual idiosyncrasies.

Gray used to go for afternoon snoozies between 1.30-2pm for about an hour and he would be absolutely flat out sparkoed! You could walk right up to him, poke him, sit on him etc and he wouldn't even lift his head half the time because that was his snoozie time and everyone else can do one! ???

i so wish someone had phoned me when my boy was down, they all drove past and weeks later when i spoke about loosing him those that had driven past said oh we saw him lying down, thought he was sleeping, be thankful

honestly, last year, just because BB started to lay down more they kept phoning me and panicking me.

He does look slightly dead in some of those pictures, but I think if someone thinks a horse is dead, they should just let it be because the horse has bolted, so to speak. He can't be made undead. These dead horses are enjoying a lovely time in the morning sun and it's a shame when they get disturbed in my opinion.

Now, that horse in the first pic is certainly dead because it's headless.
ETA: Hang on, even that horse wasn't dead. It was only headless when the picture enlarged itself. Horses - they are so tricky.

I've not been phoned, thankfully, because I just share. But, not long after I started sharing him, I rocked up earlier than normal to find him splayed out in his stable. I called his name, I wondered how the hell I was going to tell his owner he had died on my watch, I shook the treat bucket, I thought about leaving the country... And then I heard the snores.

A woman knocked on our farmer’s door about our two once - they had just come back from a week at riding club camp and were shattered!
