how many would respond to this ad?

They may be lovely people who genuinely just can't afford a pony, don't want to loan because of the hassle, and there are probably quite a few 'bad' ponies that really people can't sell for any/much money. Or they may be looking for an easy way to make cash when they sell it! Either way, I don't think I'd give a pony away for free unless to a friend with good reason :)

i agree that they might be totally genuine but also like you said they may be looking for a quick way to make money.

i'm sorry but why dont' they go and look in the sales, they could pick up some nice ponies that are cheap. that way then they can do as they please. but to say they don't want to loan or buy is a bit cheeky.
 
It is cheeky, though worth a try I suppose.

They'd be better off buying an ex racehorse or a NF pony from the sales for meat money if she is so experienced - very few people will actually give a pony away completely free unless its a total nutjob.
 
Winter project sounds like they are out to make a quick buck to be honest :(
I put an ad up before I found the horrid one. I have very limited funds and did make it clear on the ad. I had lots of responses but I did state it would be a perminant home no matter how "Cheeky" the pony was. :p ;) :D :D
There are loads of free ponies out there at the mo :( (I'm offered several a week) But most of them have sereous health and/or behavoural issues, I do wonder sometimes if people placing these ads realise they will prob end up with a horrid or a Merryn if they go looking for free ponies. Sadly prob not :( Noone is going to just give you an easy quality pony. Loan maybe but not just give it away.
