she's 27 and vet really had hoped the swelling would have gone down on Monday and it's still up and puffy and she's really not herself.

Fighting viral things such as strangles then young and old horses are more vunerable, with things such as knocks to the leg I wouldnt think age makes too much difference, perhaps older horses more prone to stiffness as younger are to splints.

Where exactly is the swelling then? I cant think alleries get any easier or harder to fight with age, but I know very little about it, I suppose it depends on the horse and what they have reacted to- Oshk had bad sunburn all over his shoulders last year after some photosynthesis deprivation...

older horses can have an impaired circulation as with older people

to stimulate the action of the circulation you need to get the homeopathic remedy crategus (hawthorn) from Ainsworths homeopathic pharmacy. Drops in the water

my old horse had swollen sheat and back legs when he got old - the crategus drops cleared this up and it was the circulation or the swelling that made it necessary to have him put down
