Round here they're usually about £15, the Farm Park is £18, which is on the expensive side but if you save your tickets (five) you get a free one and as there's at least one ride a month it can be easy to get a collection together.

Had an email from my hunt giving details of the other local hunt's annual fun ride, this year the entry fee is £20 in advance, £22 if you enter on the day!!! I know it's a good fun ride, but no better than the Farm Park. I won't be attending this year

So, how much do you pay for your local fun rides?

The dearest is the local hunt one at Wye which is £18 entry plus minimum of £10 sponsorship. The average cost seems to be around £15 to £20 dependant on the ride.

We are lucky to live in Shropshire, where there are decent fun rides most weekends over the summer, and the usual entry is £15.

Is that the one in May or the one we did together in Apperley? I found the Apperley one much better then the one more at Norton but then again it does look like Mikes had a fair few new fences put in round there...

I tell you what, just bring the pone over a week later and we can just try find most of the leftover jumps!! :D

(clearly a reply almost as useful as Boolavogues!!)

We have a local one that's been £25 (but I think may be going up to £30) which covers about 10 miles all on private farmland with optional cross country jumps and a burger at the end included in the price.

£10-15 seems to be the norm but the odd one or two charge £20+ which I think is a bit steep and won't be going on this year as my daughter is no longer eligible for the child price.

No, this is the Cotswold Misserden one.

I always go to the Ciren Park one and it's £20 in advance or £25 on the day. Absolutely brilliant though and worth the money as its the only one I go to.

There appears to be absolutely no fun in Hertfordshire as they don't seem to do them. Rubbish, as they sound, well, fun.

Leicestershire and Rutland Bridleways,( brilliant :) ) have a pleasure ride once or twice a month................£10 for a years membership and its only £3 per ride!! or only £5 a ride anyway! I go on as many as I can every year and always have a great time.

Wow! That's excellent value! Do you still get jumps and a rosette?

Fun rides round here are free - I meet up with someone/ stick someone on the other horse or head out by myself and go for a seriously fun ride :D

Organised pleasure ride thingys ar £20-25ish some of which don't even run over private land  One was advertised at 15 (I think) recently which was only 6 miles and "sedate canters only" - wtf?! That is a seriously un-fun ride

We can also do long rides with a few jumps without going to an organised fun ride, but it's nice to go somewhere different with a few more jumps now and again.

As for the 'sedate canters only', I agree, WTF? Was this fun ride for beginers/novices/grannies/people who cannot control their horses only??

Marmalade - the half-cut setting off has probably contributed to you jumping some fences you'd otherwise not have though ;) so you could argue its a pretty essential tonic!!

I don't think id want to pay more than £20 in total for a fun ride...not when there's plenty of land to roam around on and jumps to find locally for free anyway!

It also annoys me when they state a price of say 15 or 20 pounds then web you get there there's a 'surcharge' of a couple of quid for Health and Safety...build it into the price so I can just bring my crisp 20 pound note or a fiver and a tenner and not have to muck around with coins in teeny jods pockets!

I'm more than happy to pay for an organised one if they run over private tracks / land. It's the ones which just run on the bridleways I don't get. Why pay when I can just go out and do it by myself

Yes I presume it was aimed at numpties. I mean 6 miles  That's not a hack it's a warm up :/ I looked at the sched, 'cos it's on nice private land with lots of good hills for fittening work. If it had been a proper length and they allowed proper fast work, it would've been a really useful trip out for my little one  Bah humbug :D

I have had more than one horse that I just wouldn't have been able to take on a fun ride with such rules, they only had three paces, walk, jog and flat out!
