7 year old Warmblood by Accord II - Pink Papered

3 good paces, 100% in all ways - shoe box clip.

Jumping Disc/, schooling over 1.20 at home. Jumps water etc bold xc but still learning /numerous wins dressage & showing

BUT

Has been diagnosed with onset of spavins. Being treated with cortaflex and corrective shoeing. *touches would* has had 2 days lameness in 2 years.

As a guide, someone offered me £15k for him at a show the other week.... however with his hock issue, how much of a drop could I expect?

Good god- 15k?!!

I'm afraid I'd value him at a lot, lot less due to the hock issue. He wouldnt pass a vetting and it's a problem thats likely to get worse with age.

As a guide, a horse I used to ride which sounds very similar- stunning, jumps the moon, extremely talented.... failed the vet on something relatively minor at more than 15k and he was dropped to 3.5k

And that is why you must always take the numbers of people who offer you money!

I would price him at around £4k I am afraid.

I would probably say between 3 - 4k, ultimately, he's only worth what someone wants to pay and as he won't pass the vet your options may be limited. Sorry!

Presumably they didn't know about the spavins?

I am assuming he will not pass the vet? If this is the case I would say £3 - £4k, £5k tops as you can't insure for more than this without a vet's certificate.

If he has the onset of Spavin he'll probably start going lame more often now. Is his action affected at all yet? Has the vet not suggested injecting the hock yet to get it to fuse?

I would only value him at about £6k without the Spavin, and with it I think you would be lucky to sell him. But that is just my opinion. Quick find the lady with the money and hope she doesn't vet him.
