I'm currently loaning a horse, but am aware that, at some point, her owner is likely to want to sell her. I've never bought a horse and have no idea what would be a fair price, so how much would you expect?
13 years old, 14h 2 cobby chestnut mare.
She's safe, as in novice ride safe - doesn't kick, bite, buck, rear etc. Hacks alone or in company (naps a little on her own, but nothing really bad), good with traffic, good with farrier. I haven't tried to load her yet, but is apparently fine. Can be bargey on the ground, and not great at standing still.
In the past she has done pony club, show jumping, cross country, hunted. However, in the last year she hasn't done anything, apart from hacking with me since March.
No health issues (possibly mild sweet itch, but I'm managing that already), lives out 24/7 all year.
What do you think?
