Hi all, I've owned my boy for 7 years now and have recently (having moved yards) had a woman saying she thinks she knows him.
She brought up some photos of 'him' and to be honest I'm not 100% sure if it is or not, the story she told matches in some parts ie where he was from but not in a ridden aspect. When I bought him I was told he had raced which I believed as he certainly didn't seem to understand what schooling was or a sand school for that fact.
The photos of 'him' do look very similar, 'he' was returned to the same dealer I bought him from in 2003 and I bought him in 2005.

Question being how much can a horse change in two years, from 8yo-10yo

A lot!

Depending on how much work he was in before you got him would affect his muscles, and different types of work builds up different muscles on the body.

Overall health would could also change the shininess of his coat etc.

Maybe if you have the images of him that the lady showed you, and some images of him when you got him, you could post them on here for others to look at? It would be interesting to get others peoples views on if it is the same horse.

Here are photos

Going to say the obvious (sorry as I'm sure you've done it already :)) but is there nothing in his passport ?
I'm assuming his microchipped being a TB so can you not trace it back through that ?

He didn't have a passport when I bought him, or a name for that matter! All he came with was the shoes on his feet :(
I thought the same re sock but lady at my stables is adamant that its him

Very similar but I would say it's not the same horse. As someone else mentioned, the hind sock doesn't look the same . . . also the face doesn't look the same either - the more recent pic shows him with more of a roman-type nose (although not pronounced) while the other horse looks to have a slightly dished face. Lastly, the tailset and the croup look different - although I suppose this could be explained by different degrees of muscling?

Beautiful boy, though.

Similar but in my opinion different horses, the white does not match up and their heads are very different shapes, the top one has a smaller finer head.
