I have a pony who I suspect MAY have cushings, not certain. But have been advised to try feeding Chasteberry as its meant to be extremely good (and wont do any harm if she doesnt have it). Was quoted a hefty price for a horse-made supplement but found human capsules of it today which I bought (way cheaper!). It says for humans to take 4 capsules a day (400mg strength) so how much do you think would be right for a shetland?! I was thinking maybe double this?

Thanks

Right, Ill go up to 10 (on the safe side as Im worried about over dosing!). Ill have to build it up very slowly. So there's no harm in giving human stuff to horses is there? In the ingredients the only other thing in it is magnesium which Ive heard is also a good thing to give ponies with potential cushings.

BTW, Gatefield_Horses, your horse for sale sounds fantastic!! Wowza on the BSJA wins!

Dodson and Horrell do 2kg (or is it 1kg?) tubs of pure chaste berries. In the same sort of oval tubs that Stroppy Mare comes in. Most shops do not stock it but can order it in. A tub costs £12 and lasts for Months at a feeding rate of a couple of teaspoons a day according to size.

The berries look just like peppercorns so are best quickly whizzed in an old coffee grinder.

Nope there is no harm in giving horses human things to most extents. The only difference between equine and human is the equine products are about 100 times more expensive!
