How much do you pay farrier to put Vettec Equipak in your horses feet?

Alot.. well i dont because i laughed at my farrier and told him 'Dont be silly. i can buy it for 18 pound a tube.. put it in for that' and he said.. ok lol

Usually an pair of normal fronts and equipak your looking at 100 touch then if its bar shoes 120 o 150

£40 for the shoeing two fronts and a trim behind then another £40 for the equipak every 5-6weeks luckily i get the equipak money back through pet plan for now .

hmmm yeah my old farrier put it in at cost price but i had to get a new farrier who charged me £120 for paking and heart bars (and hinds obviously!)
I can get it from a US supplier who sells dental/farrier instruments a lot cheaper. Do u think he would be narked if i said do it at cost price or i will buy the stuff myself for u to put in?!!??!

Ask him.. More than likly will tell you to f off.. You can get it from british farriery suppliers.. its not a prescription drug.

Erm.. ask you farrier to see but to be fair. hes charging the going rate.. espacially the further south you go.

My horse is having this but its going through the insurance, I just pay the cost of the normal shoes and insurance pays the rest

£110 for shoeing all round and equipak in fronts. Equipak works out at around £40. TBH this is the standard price around here. He is done every 5 weeks. It is quite fiddly to put in I think especially in cold weather as it takes a while to set.

Think I was paying about £40 extra per foot for the equipak, partly it depends on how much gel your horses feet hold, mine took the best part of 1 tube per foot. You then have the gauze, polystyrene pads and application and setting time to add on top.

My farrier told me to order it myself from Stronsholm (UK farriery supply company). It's cheaper for me and less hassle for him. You need the Equipack (plus nozzles), stryofoam pads and mesh. They deliver to yr door. Farrier then charges an extra £5 to apply it (I just have fronts done too). Here's the website http://www.stromsholm.co.uk/pages/home/

I paid £150.00 for vettec just in the fronts for my old horse. I didnt know you could buy it yourself, tho presumably farrier wouldnt be too happy. I tried to get my insurance to pay but they refused, wasnt too happy about that.

My old boy has just had his shoes back on & ive had Equipak fitted again. It cost £120 for a full set of shoes with Equipak in fronts. Well worth it though for my horse, ive paid more in Vet bills every month since i tried to take him Barefoot in September.
