...your bags of easibed/aubiose/shavings? And where do you get them from?

Thinking about the winter. I used shavings last year and found I didn't deep litter it enough for my mare in places....I like a nice deep thick bed with lots of banks, but it's got to be quick to muck out (otherwise i'd just go back to straw).

OH is thinking of putting his on the same, so costs would be shared, and we have storage so can buy in bulk, but just wanting to get some feelers for prices if you don't mind!

bedmax - £7.58

easibed- £8.90 but i use allbed its the same stuff £5.50

auboise £11 mark

I would try allbed (easibed) i find it quick to muck out, cheap one bad a week, and it deep litters well. Plus it stays put with my box walker (he settles after a short while.) If you order a pallet i think they are doing it at less then £5 per bale.

Its a new bedding so you may have to ask your local supplers to get it in for you

I'm paying £7 for a bale of shavings (which I then sell on in smaller bags for rabbits) and got a tonne or so of wood pellets from Manco wholesale as we also sell them on. Found the pellets cheaper to use for the horses (and better) but I think I'm right in saying shavings are cheaper for most people who are forced to buy retail.

There are some ads in the Yorkshire Post each saturday for cheap shavings, so perhaps a quick look at their website will point you in the right direction?
