as title says how much do you pay or even charge if you clip for a bit of extra money?

I've been asked by a few people to clip their horses as did a couple of friends horses last year, and I have no idea what people charge as always clipped my own.

thanks x

Oooh good thread, a freelance groom who comes to our DIY yard is doing my boy (am rubbish at clipping!) and several others on yard. I'd be interested to know how much others charge/are charged to see if i'm getting a good deal or not.
She charges £35 for a blanket clip and I think £40 for a full clip- can't remember what it is for the other types.

Hi, i do lots of clipping for friends and elsewhere as a service. For the friends at my yard charge 20 for full clip and blankets, as blankets take just as long for all the lines, i charges 25 for legs body head ect. 12 for trace neck belly ect. When i go elsewhere i charge 30 for full and blankets and 35 for the whole lot off. If i have to travel particualry far ill put an extra fiver on for petrol but i tend to keep it local.
Ive clipped for years and am really fussy so theres no lines ect. i also tend to be able to do quite naughty horses there usually good for me i tend to have a calming influence!!!

Get people to clip by his stable, when hes happily munching on his hay, it will help him get a bit more used to it.

Herefordshires a bit far out for its about 1 1/2 hours from me.

Its prob worth getting some espeacailly if hes nervous thats why i got some, i had a very naughty one but couldnt keep affording the vet sedation so i used to do 20 mins a day used to take a few days to get the whole lot done but in the end he stood like an angel. Its a good way to make yourself some pocket moeny to, over the half term and xmas holidays while your at collage, just so it for a lower fee while your still learning for friends/fellow liveries you get to practice and they get some clipping for a lower cost everybody is happy.

Thanks, i have tried feed, hay, everything, he won't even let me tidy his bridle path up with a pair of scissors  he is just totally petrified!! I think i will order some clippers to clip my other boy he brilliant :D and just spend time with Perry. Thanks for you advice xxx

This is what our YO charges the liveries who want their horses clipping. I have my own clippers and do my own. (I only clip my own horse, so I will never get the practise to be able to produce such stunning results as she does though, and I'm sometimes tempted to let her do it)

£50 Full/Hunter clip
£45 Blanket
£40 Trace
£35 Chaser
£25 Bib

£10 legs
£8 Main pull
£6 Tail Pull

zoelouisem ...... how do you manage to clip so cheap, once you have paid your professional indemnity, your 3rd party liability and your 3 c insurance, let alone the annual servicing and pat testing of your clippers? of which you obviously have several pairs? your part business use of your car?
sloudon.... make sure you are properly insured, and your clippers are pat tested and serviced, and that you have personal accident insurance.
