I've been offered a paddock for 2 horses for the next 4 months. There is no running water but thats not a prob as very close to my house. Owner is unsure as too what to charge me and I don't want to offend them with a stupid offer nor do I want to pay over the odds. Any ideas what teh going rate for grazing is at the moment?

Round her agricultural land is £100 per acre per year, a little more for horse grazing.

Alternatively you could 'tack' your horses, instead of renting the field, pay the owner a tenner a week (or whatever) per horse per week. Some people prefer tacking because it is more flexible, you are only paying for the horses you have and you are not responsible for maintaining the field.

He, he, I am in posh, posh North Yorkshire where there is a horse looking over every hedge, hence the demand for land. The farmers have to fight the horse owners for it!

Well i pay £100 a month for a 2acre paddock with field shelter, electric and water as well as a stable, so for a paddock with no water i wouldnt personally want to pay more than £80 pcm at the most.

I'm in Somerset and at the moment don't pay anything for the grazing as I get it in return for helping with the guys other horses. Think I might offer them £10 per week per horse and see what they say. Thanks for all your replies

I agree, £10 sounds about right. I pay £12 and get eight acres of good grazing with water, but nothing else. Oh and field maintenance which I think is a bit of a bargain, they've just spent a few days laying water pipes to the next door field so I can move my horses into there as it's more secure (they keep jumping out) - all maintenance etc. for free!

On average, down here, you would expect to pay £10 per horse per week.
