[ QUOTE ]
and what do you feed yours??

Buzz gets A+P Fast Fiber, A+P old faithfuls, applechaff and bran, they last me about 5 weeks, and costs £45,

[/ QUOTE ]

raffy gets similar - but A+P calm and condition instead of old faithfuls. bran lasts about 3 times as long as the other bags though. x

Weve had the same bag of happy hoof for about a month, mindyou ours still have loads of grass. We use speedy beet and high fibre nuts too, but not feeding much of anything until the grass goes down they are a little porky!! Has to be sugar free for our cushings boys so we feed the other two the same, makes life easier.

All mine get the same feed but in different quantities:

Alfa Oil and cheap economy mix

Next week I will be adding a bit of sugar beet too and then if I feel they are not maintaining their weights I'll add barley.

I spend about £30pm on feed at the moment.

(£10.30 for Alfa Oil x2 and £5 economy mix x2)

£0

He gets a tiny bit of chaff for tea, but it was given to me free

really should not keep feed for 4 to 6 months as it will get mould spores growing in it and will go musty. also, remember that feed has a sell by date...this means it must be used by a certain date as well....please be carefull. x

My mare gets baileys conditioning cubes and baileys outshine - cc last around 2 weeks and hoping the outshine will last alot longer as only use 2 cups per day and its not cheap at £35 a bag!! but it seems to be working, shes been on it 2 weeks

not quite sure how much it costs but really not much he gets the most basic hay mix which is like £5 a bag or something i go through about 2 bags a month, fibre beet i think is about £9 a bag but i dont use much, his top spec is quite expensive i guess but i swear by it and it lasts for a good while anyway, seaweed huge bag was £7 and had it about 2months so far, carrots big bag for £2 lasts the 3 horses a week and a half and then ad lib good quality hay which is included in livery. he looks absolutely superb his coat is like glass and he only costs me £100 a month roughly including everything

I try not to add it up as it would b v depressing but:

My mare infoal gets: 3kg winergy equilibrium growth a day, a bag costs £12.50, and lasts 5 days!!!!!!!!

My intermediate eventer: a scoop of pony nuts, a scoop of happy hoof, blue chip pro, and NAF magic every day

My 4 yo: a scoop of pony nuts, a scoop of happy hoof, and some blue chip original

My PN eventer: a scoop of pony nuts and some blue chip original

My Mums allrounder: a scoop of pony nuts and some blue chip original

The donkey: 1/2 scoop of happy hoof, and a small amount of blue chip original.

So bearing in mind I go through 4 bags of pony nuts a week at £7.50 a bag. A bay of blue chip original every 10 days at £39, a blue chip pro every 5 weeks at £45, a bag of happy hoof every 3 weeks at £11.50, as well as my mares feed I spend an awful lot!!!!!

My horse costs me nothing to feed she lives out 24/7 and she gets given hay that we take off our own field so the cost of getting that cut and bailed is all i have to pay.

I get 2 bags of D+H high fibre nuts, a hifi lite, a speedibeet and a sack of carrots for approx £35. It lasts approx a fortnight, I feed all 5 ponies the same feed, just in varying amounts.

A&P Fast Fibre - £7.95
Spillers Senior Maintenance mix - £11
Mollichaff Showshine - £5.90
Linseed Oil - £5
Equiflex - £17.95

Chaff and linseed oil last about 3 weeks and the equiflex, fast fibre and mix last about 6 weeks.

Jerry has economy cool mix - about £5 which lasts about 10 days.
Plus - apple chaff - £4.50 which lasts nearly a month
Plus D&H build up cubes, about £8.50 and lasts about 2 weeks.

So about £37.00 a month. Actually, that's more than I thought I spent!

Between both of mine I spend £52 a month on feed. They are both poor doers and are 15 and 21.

They get- Calm & Condition, Alfa A Lite, Baileys No1 and Pegasus Cubes.

one bag of winergy equilibrium condition /week @ £12.90.
one 25kg bag of linseed / 3months @ £30 delivered
one bag of bruised oats/ 2 weeks @ £6.
one bag of sugar beet/3 weeks @ £9.

he also gets through 3 tubs of supplements per month at approx £12 each.

for a TB in full work, i think he's fairly economical???????

saracen enduro 100 -11.50 a bag last a week

Lanky is a winter poor doer. George is good doer all year.
Overall I use:
A bag of speedibeet each month in winter (5-6 months) at £9 a bag, so £4.50 a month average over the year.
A bag of Alfa A every other month throughout the year at £11/12 a bag, so £6 a month.
A 12kg sack of winter glow summer shine every 6-7 weeks, at £40ish a bag, so £30ish a month.
A 2.5kg tub of Biotin every 6 weeks at £12 a tub, so £10 a month.
A sack of hifi lite for the whole spring/summer, so works out at about £1 a month spread across the whole year.
A sack of hifi every other month in winter, so £3 a month spread across the year.

We grow a lot of our own hay, and as they live out from March to November, they just tend to get it through winter and if grass is poor any time else. We have to pay someone to cut our hay but bale it ourselves. Costs about £40 for 120 bales off our field. We then buy in 120 at 1.50 a bale off the field, so another £180. So about £20 a month throughout the year on hay as an average.

This year we have fed haylage to Lanky as he was on box rest and struggling to hold weight, so he gets 2 slices a day. A bag is £6.90 and lasts about 4 days. £50 a month on haylage until March.

Not my style at all! Trying to contact a local supplier to get it cheaper. He won't be getting it next year and didn't get it last year. He is a poor doer but it's not needed - we have good hay.

I spend too much then really. It is necessary now for us to cut down the feed bill as Lanky is going to be unridden.

Um hard feed, tend to buy a bag of Bailey's no4 every week so £10 and then about 3 weeks out of 4 a bag of alfa a oil at £12, so average about £70 odd a month!!

The baileys just gets fed to Blue but the alfa a oil gets fed to both Blue and Merlin PLUS the another 2/3 hence it runs out so often

Also every month a tub of pink powder for £15... oh dear thats like not far off £100 a month on feed now
