I've arranged for the farrier to come tomorrow to trim both ponies' hooves and I'm assuming you pay farriers in cash but I forgot to ask how much it would be so that I can get some money out. Once again my novice-ness is showing  Please can someone advise a rough price so I don't have to ring him and sound like an idiot? Thanks :p

you won't sound like an idiot, you'll sound like a decent client with good manners. I know us Brits are shy about things like money but surely it will be more embarrassing if everyone tells you £20 and he actually charges £40! a good professional will not mind your "novice-ness" but may be able to help you learn, especially if you express a willingness to listen.
