Have a horse broken in and ridden away? currently looking at getting a youngster next year and what to make sure i have the right funds to have it properly broken and ridden away. Preferably for dressage/ showing and also where do you find reputable people to do this for you to ensure the horse is not going to be ruined.

Thanks

If you do the ground work (lunging, long lining, bitting etc) then at least 4 weeks depending on the horse. Generally plpeople charge around £120- £150 a week.
I sent my boy away for backing after I had done all ground work and ridden him a few times and they took 4 weeks to get him walk, trot and cantering and hacking.

£150-£200 a week around where I am. I guess the time scale varies according to the horse!

Or you could be a plonker like my friend who didn't kick up a fuss when she paid £200 a week to a local lady and her horse came back walking and trotting (very unreliably) and was barely off the lunge with a rider. Awful. Hadn't been walked out once. This was an 8 year old, well handled.
