How much Exercise does your horse get a day if stabled during Winter?

Are they ridden every day? Do they get turn out each day (i.e just an hour etc)?

Ever have days where nothing is done with them?

Yep. When i start my course on 3rd Oct he'll have no exercise on a Tuesday & Thursday. My sharer will hack Mon, wed & Fri, with alternate Saturday lessons.

He is still out 24/7, but gets daily 6 / 8 hours winter turnout.

they get about an hours work every day . show once a week ish.
Usually get turned out if the weather isnt rubbish for anywhere between an hour or 3 hours depending on whats happening, in the afternoons.
One day off a week - all day in the field.
i never leave them in the stable all day, if i cant ride or they cant be turned out ill walk them out for some grass or something.

I turn mine out all day, then she's in overnight. I find it hard to ride in winter as the school is in use and it's too dark to ride out. As she's old though, I'm hoping to still ride 3/4 times a week, but I think I'm being unrealistic. Think I'll end up lungeing and riding once each during the week then riding out at the weekends. I'm hoping plenty of turnout during the day will class as decent exercise

my old loan pony thrived on work, if he didn't get any he would be utterly unmanageable!! so in the winter we would exercise him an hour every day during the week (except when he had a day off on monday and wednesday) and 1-2 hours hours on saturday and sunday. his owner liked to compete, and without work he would get bored and destroy anything he could find. and no matter what day it was he would always get turned out for at least a couple of hours. he was about nine, and to say he was fizzy was an understatement!

Mine has survived fairly well on complete stabling summer and winter -- last winter had recovered from a pelvis injury so she didn't get turned out much in the winter due to the amount of ice we had - but she was turned out in the school in the morning or walked or lunged for 20 min or so - and then worked every night. If she got a day off, she still was handwalked.

This summer she's had some issues too - box rest etc. At the moment she's back to full work and only gets turned out for maybe 5 hours a week - but worked every day (sometimes 2x a day) and showing at weekends.

They work for about 1 hour every morning, then get 3-4 hours in the field in the afternoon - never less, but depending on the rota some days more (5 or 6 hours). If they cannot be turned out (because of weather or other reasons) then I try to take them for a 30-minute walk in hand, or I let them free in the indoor school.
They do have a day off work every week (normally Sunday), when they spend all morning or all afternoon in the field.
In short I try to get them out of the stable twice a day.
However, I must add that most horses around here seem to be in 23 hours out of 24.

i personally would never keep a horse on a yard where they were in ALL winter ie no turnout. only have mune in 24/7 for injury/boxrest or serious SERIOUS snow

so turned out all day in at night

Last 2 winters my horse has been stabled he got about hour in the school twice a day and then an hour to 3 hours exercise every day, usually hacking. If I had a chance I would also try to lunge or ride in the school for 20 mins on top of that.

While I was at uni he would get schooled 3 times in the week and I would take him for long hacks plus a lunge at weekends.

One of mine is in at night out during day unless terrible weather and he will get ridden 5/6 days a week and a competition every 3weeks roughly.

My mare will be in at night and out every day no matter what the weather, she stresses if in too much.
and i am planning on bringing her back into work after a 2 year break for a number of reasons so haven't worked out a plan for her yet!

yearling is out 24/7 giving herself exercise by running round like a loony harasing the old horses to play
