Just wondering how much people would normally pay for a childs hunting pony? I've got a chunky little irish chap who I'm thinking will be a cracking little hunter and was just wondering what he'd be worth once he's proved himself on the hunting field? He's got enough omph to go all day, lots of bone, 14hh and 7yrs old - he's hunted in ireland so I'm hoping he'll know his job!! What to you all think? :) Thank you!! xx

It's a tough one as what would you be wiling to pay for your childs safety?

To wave them off at the meet & them to return at the end of the day in one piece?

well i sold my 13 years old, 13.2hh pony (toffee in sig.) for £3250...he would jump ANYTHING, the biggest hedge, the biggest ditch and would do all day and bring you back in one piece. this pony now hunts with a 14 year old, a 11 year old and a 5 year old... all in a snaffle! now he is safe, so to them hes worth everything.
people pay for safety...he didnt really do dressage, but would jump a 3ft course of showjumps and easily 3.3ft/3.6ft hunter trial...team chased etc. etc. but this pony was so so safe...so people offered us what we were asking without hesitation.
if the ponies safe, then you can get anything for them...
but if your pony hasn't done PC etc. (which will be the osrt of people wanting to buy) then that will knock a bit off....

I know someone who sold and out and out hunting pony for 6k. Was a cracker though - did Cottesmore Leics country, out with the Quorn, Cambs Uni Drag in Fernie, and also full day with the Beaufort.
