Hi there

I am looking to buy myself a dressage saddle, not really sure what i want except i want one with quite a deep seat and would prefer leather.

I am looking for recommendations and what kind of prices i could expect to pay having a saddler coming out to fit it

Thanks a lot

Are you looking at mew, or second hand?

My ideal has a lovely deep seat, made to measure, and cost me just over £1000 Inc fitting. You could pick up, if you're lucky, a second hand from around £300, probably looking at around £5-600 second hand from a saddler?

Just a guess though.

I had the fitter out and tried lots of dressage saddles earlier this year. In the end I bought the Albion Platinum Ultima, its was just over £2000.00.

Completely depends how much you want to pay!!! Depending on weather you go for second hand, and which make, you could pay anything between £300 and £3000!!!!!!!!

Check out ebay, some great leather bargains on there from £50 onwards if you know what width etc your looking for, just get your saddler to check it over to make sure it fits, worth a gamble :)

In my mind the best dressage saddles (and GP's) are Albions. If you want a decent Albion, look for Legend 5000 series, slightly older than the more modern series. They are on ebay from about £400. They come in a variety of widths, black or havanna some with suede. Honestly they are really comfy :) :)

I've been trying to sell a leather one in excellent condition for months now and I simply can't sell it. It's branded my saddlers own brand but is actually made by Ideal so it's a quality saddle and I have had it up for £350 then £300. As I've had no interest I'd say I've overpriced it!

Judging by this I'd say don't expect to pay very much for a really good second hand one, probably no more than £500 for a good brand. However if you're looking at new I'd say you're probably looking at about £850 for something unbranded and about £1200 starting price for a 'make'.

What do you mean by a "make" is that a good make or just any? Im really not clued up when it comes to saddles

What you pay for the saddler to come out, can vary. I just spoke to Penfolds in W Sussex and they charge £35 to come to me with a selection of saddles. As to what the saddle costs, well the sky is the limit really. They actually had a very tidy Falcon dressage saddle on sale at £350, but I would say an average would be £400 to £600. With newer second hand examples being in the £800 range.

id reccomend an ideal jessica on that budget :)

i got a barnsby dressage and wished id have spent another 300 on an ideal tbh :/ but couldnt afford it at the time and i sholud have waited tbh :(

ets - defo get a saddler out and sit on a few!!! i looked at one which looked lovely but sat on it and it was honestly vile! lol!!! hated it.

sat on an ideal - loved it but not for 1k!
