My horse is on holiday at the moment and I think the bill I have been sent is wrong, but just wanted to check that I am not way out of line before I query it!

£75. I paid £65 yesterday but that was for refits, no road nails. Our farrier doesn't travel - we have to go to him which is over an hour away.

ETA he is in Suffolk and I am in Essex if it helps to know parts of the country. When we were in Herts we paid £65 for a new set and £70 with road nails.

Interesting how much the prices vary!

I know that you can get different quality of iron for the shoes - but that if at most a matter of a few pounds. I guess the rest is what the farrier in that part of the country thinks the market will hold and how much people rate their skills.

I personally dont mind paying extra for a good farrier - who also turns up on time!!!
