Been thinking for AGES about getting rid of the shogun and trailer and swapping for a cheap run about and lorry. Thing is I do so little driving apart from the towing it seems silly to keep such an expensive car on the road and it cost a lot more to tow with than a lorry does. I would also like somethign with at least day living or something simple so I could sleep over one night if I had to.
Sooo what should I be looking at for a reliable but old lorry, nothing flash I am not a snob safety will come before appearance.
Thanks guys
Clare

I paid £3500 for an old bedford - looks fine, been reliable so far, fairly cheap on diesel compared to towing too!

Bedfords are a bugger to get partts for, so i would really advise against getting one.
It really depends on what you want and how new you want it to be!
We bought an E reg about 5 years ago (since been sold!) Carried 3, had full living inc shower and loo, and we lived in it for upto 8 days! It cost us about 12 k i think!

But look around there are some cheap reliable boxes about it just depends how much u want to have/spend!

well ive just bought a very very reliable old lorry for £1750. And its gorgeous and so far 100% reliable (well except for the time mum ran it out of fuel but thats her fault not the lorries)

Thanks for the advice was thinking round the £5000 mark as that is abotu what I would get for my shogun and trailer, maybe a bit more. didn't know if I was being unrealistic and or asking for trouble for that amount.

housemate is looking at the moment and there are several true 7.5 tonne A and B reg lorries just needing a bit of TLC in the paintwork/interior department but which are mechanically sound for around the £5k marker. Horsemart has quite a few at the moment so will give you a good idea.
