I bought brand new a Kings GP saddle, but that had been specially cut as a VSD model. Now they are master saddlers in Walsall, these saddles its says are made from the finest supplies and I have to admit it is a fabulous saddle and I love it.

There are the odd minor few scuffs on where the leathers go, but it hasn't had much wear and has been reflocked and is a really smart saddle and I think gives you a very good seat - I found I slouched in my old GFS but this one was much better.

Anyway, it doesn't fit Asti - the fitter persuaded me she needed medium when she's really medium-wide and I just can't use it much as I love it. Have scooted around on line and these saddles are currently over £800 RRP but have seen one for £755. I paid £700.

Now, would you pay £400-£450 for a nearly new saddle or scrape up the extra £300-400 for brand new?

Now fair enough if it was several years old and tatty and a bit worn, I'd not expect that, but if I was offered a saddle in the condition that mine is, that looks nearly new, for half the price of new or saving £300 - I'd go for the second had one!

Or do you think its unreasonable?

Your 400-450 price seems fair but I only ever seem to get that kind of money for saddles when I trade them in. Never had any luck selling on a second hand saddle. People want them for pennies.

Can you not send it back to Walsall and get them to adjust it?

*blushes*

Got swayed by "tradition" for showing so I bought a havana show saddle (well WHP saddle) and then havana bridle... sold my other black showing bridle... and bought a Saddle Company GP in havana.... so now it doesn't match any of my stuff...

Whats worse, we don't show now so even the WHP is surplus to requirements

I just need a massive clearout to realise some cash!

I bought an immaculate Albion VSD ( literally only marked on the straps) for £400. Equally when I sold my immaculate Ideal Classic I only got £275 for it so its depressing but your'll probably get around 50 % of the new value for it. More often than not PX ing them at the saddlers is the best option.
