Please can you help with suggestions on a price for a silica sand, rubber and Clopf surface which is less than one-year-old?

Ideally I think it needs to be priced per tonne or as a whole.

There are 200 tonnes of sand, 26 tonnes of rubber and 6 large bales of Clopf each weighed approx 420kg, plus one bale left over which has never been opened.

Thank you!

So if buyer arranged a lorry, have you got means to load this surface?

You are talking a lot of 20T lorry loads

I think if you could load it you might get £20/t if in perfect condition

However if the surface was removed because it wasn't very good and they have to arrange a loader then you are really only going to get £5/ton at best (or free)

I have the means to load it and also to transport it if the buyer didn't,

Artics or 8 wheel tippers can access our site no problems and so the minimum load for an 8 wheel would be 28 tonne.

Our school measures 25 x 50 so could easily porvide a new surface for a similar size or 20 x 40.

Do you really think it is only worth £5/ton? I thought if we asked £5k for the lot someone would be getting a very good deal considering the surface in total was around £30,000 to buy.

Our yard has now expanded and we are riding around 6 horses/day and at this rate it needs more maintenance than is feasible so have decided to replace it.

Its an ideal surface for a smaller or private yard.

Well I think price would come down to who wanted it and where they were based.

However if you have the means to transport it, then I think you could ask a lot more as most people wouldn't want the hassle of arranging HGV transport (the only hitch is that whilst you can get an artic in, most places cannot)

The other thing is will you really get 200t of sand out without hitting the base of the school? (i know there is probably a membrane, but you might want to leave a protective layer for your new surface? (out of interest what are you going for?)

'New' prices are £18 for Sand, and circa £50 for rubber (unless you have something more special than tyres). I don't know the RRP for Clopf

So I think you'd have to discount down but if you don't have to charge VAT you'd sell the rubber easily for £40/t delivered.

We are going for a waxed Softrack surface from Robert Brazil

We will be replacing the membrane as Robert is replacing the existing surface and mebrane as part of the deal to re-surface. We will also have to relevel the sub-base but again have costed for that.

Robert want the entire old surface gone, we did look into placing a surface on top but decided it we were doing it we shoud do it properly and see it as an investment.

If we delivered then £40/ton (£10k for the entire surface) sounds a bit more like it.

Interesting - I have to say my rubber and silica requires more levelling than I had hoped and would be poor with heavy use.

You'd get £40 for the rubber - but not more than £18 per ton for the sand

I would advertise for £10k and if no response drop it to 7.5k and you should end up with at least £5k

Perhaps put some feelers out for someone putting in a new school?

I mentioned it to a couple of people already and they asked how much we wanted and I had no idea or could even find a market for it.

I think I will start at 10K and then drop as necessary.

So £40/ton for the whole lot as I don't think I want the hassle of separating it!

Thanks

We took up a surface that wasn't what it was supposed to be (non compacting sand) the rubber scraped off quite successfully but the sand was a nightmare to get up.
The membrane came up with it which we didn't mind as we didn't need it but was a nightmare to separate from the sand. Lost tonnes of sand with it as just too awkward and heavy to separate.
The clean hardcore underneath came up in places too and mixed overall with the sand. Also some sand ended up blinding the stone off and were told it may affect the drainage of the new surface (so far so good though)
Luckily we only use the old sand to put in gateways so it didn't matter so much that it had the odd bit if hardcore in.

It was professional contractors that took it all up so they weren't idiots on a digger either!

Good luck, I am sure somebody will want it, I am not too sure that it would be worth £10k though but it is just finding the right person that would be interested.

Ideally within the next 4 weeks but we could store it for a genuine buyer. PM me if you are interested.

Certainly won't be able to go that fast. Tis a listed building and we're having to jump through hoops.
