Sorry, guys, am trying to figure out whether i should sell my mare or breed from her myself.
She's 5 this year and we think she has a problem in her hocks. Just finished a course of physio on her back - that's where we all thought the problem was -but she is still dragging her hind toes so have come to the conclusion it's the hocks. Will take her for x rays obviously, but just want to get an idea so I can make a decision quickly once I know.
She has good conformation, correct paces (before this started...

), a lovely temperament.
She is by a Selle Francais Grade A stallion out of an AES mare who was Grade B.
Would prefer to sell her tbh but don't really know where to price her?
Also, would it better to put her in foal first and then sell her?

you couldnt put a price on her untill you know what is wrong with her? in this market people can buy sound horses for next to nothing, i have just bought 2 well bred mare with fab breeding for less than it would cost me to take my kids on holiday!!!!

It depends what she has wrong with her hocks - but do you really want to breed from a horse that has a physical unsoundness at such a young age?
With all the flack that British breeders get for not producing the same quality animals as they do on the continent, why perpetuate the argument by breeding from a mare that you know has a problem?
Not the sort of advice that one wants to hear when you are facing potentially devastating news about your horse, but if your mare has a genetic problem there is a good chance that you could pass the problem on to her foal.
If you are in a position to take a risk, and potentially give any resulting offspring a home for life then go for it - but if not then seriously think about what could happen, and what problems you could be passing on to someone else.
I really hope that your mare turns out ok - good luck!
