I am aiming to go up to my family over Christmas. I have arranged for a local girl to do my horses. She will probably stay at ours for a couple of days but that part is free! However not sure what to pay for the horse bit? Two horses turned out mucked out fed watered and hay done. Taken in again and probably more hay at night. 2 hours worth I reckon. Same again on boxing day.

Any ideas?

You should have said I would have done it for a bottle of vino or 2 to keep my day occupied!!!LOL
Think firstponyminto has the right idea though as that's pretty reasonable.
Have a good one and say Hi to the North East for me :):):)

it's not so much the amount of time it will take but how much it will limit her on the 2 major public holidays of the year - obs she will not be able to go out far away anywhere on either day or have a little too much lunchtime wine & wil you expect her to do a late night check too?
when i used to do a Christmas day & Boxing day service - i charged 20 quid per horse for turnout/muckout/bring in/feeds etc - but it was a one visit service - horses got about 3 to 4 hrs turnout [ not ideal but better than nowt] & were then tucked up for the night - BUT i was doing it all at one or two yards very close to eachother & had a bout 5 horses to do - my daughter was accepting of the fact that we would celebrate christmas a little bit later but with extra pennies to make it nicer:)

I've got three to do over the xmas week - and the £10/hr, double time on xmas day was what I was thinking I would charge. The boxing day rate sounds a good idea too.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone, sorry I didn't reply, had our work Christmas lunch yesterday.

OK double time seems fair enough and I might round up a bit too. Think I'll suggest they go out early and are in by lunchtime so later in the day she can go anywhere/have a few drinks. If she stays at ours then yes I'll ask her to do a night check, but not if she stays at her own place (only a mile or two away though).

Aww FlyingCoo - didn't know you were so cheap LOL :D.
