just want to see what people value him as! i wont be offended!!
15.1hh welsh x TB, 13 years. Lovely flat work, amazing jump although, competed un affiliated shows and won quite a few classes, not competed alot of BSJA, doesnt hack out alone but does in company. great team chaser, good xc. Can be nappy, does rear and buck. very affectionate and endearing. Great on the floor.

Im crap at these but I suppose with his age and some of his vices you wouldn't be looking at alot of money

but Im sure to you he is priceless so just be happy that you were lucky enough to find him

Pride is the same, worth pennies to everyone else but worth the world to me

Dunno about the price but he looks just like our TB x Welsh! He's a total nutter and sharp as you like but a real sweetheart too!

Am loving Flint!

Hes gorgeous, im useless at pricing horses, but i would maybe around £2k. Dont shout at me lol.

I dont like hacking alone, so things like that shouldnt really worry people. However his bucking and rearing might put me off. Im trying to build my confidence lol

Due to his size, you may get kids coming off ponies looking at him to compete with. Then it depends on the rider's abilities to handle him. I think if he has got tallent and ability, the faults can be over-looked to a certain extent with the right rider. So the value I would put on him would be £5K sold with full knowledge of his problems.

personaly i wouldnt buy him as he is a known rearer, however for someone who is willing to deal with that sort of thing i'd say a max of £2k as ponies with problems dont sell well.

No idea on the price- but he is very similar to my mare Megan (left)

He is gorgeous, and from the XC photos looks like he has a fab jump. I rekon you would get around 4k

Well if his jump is as amazing as our TB x Welsh he'd be worth loads!
However, the fact that he rears would put me off and I think it would reduce his value considerably. I think you could get about £3k at the moment - more if you were to take him to a few BSJA shows and get some money on his card.
I think alot of people who buy the very talented horses are prepared for their 'quirks'!

ETS: Here's a picture of Stanley (grey on the left) - he's got more fleabitten as he's got older but I think he's quite similar to Flint!

I'd say about £1500 to £2000 tbh

He's got no real competition record to speak of. He's got 'quirks' and he's 13 yrs old.....oh, and he's too small for me
grin.gif

Id be inclined to agree with Rambo sorry ekkkk...from what i've read, his age, not done much etc would put him in that bracket!!

Blimey not being funny but if he is worth £3500-£4000 to some people, my mare must be worth a fortune...sorry

Sorry but no way would I value him at even £3k plus. Okay he's a stunning horse, but he's not about to go to the top, he's 13, and has definite manner issues.

I only got £3800 for Paris who was a little bigger, 12yrs old, fantastic SJ/xc schoolmistress and didn't rear/buck/nap.

So IMO he's be worth maybe £2250. Sorry.

can people please stop apologising! lol i take no offence what so ever and i paid alot lot less for him than what people have quoted! his rearing is not what it used to be, he tends to like all 4 feet on the floor now!

it is all opinions thats why they will all be different!

I'm basing my estimate on the fact that we were offered £10k+ for a very similar pony who was just slightly smaller, not a rearer but still very sharp with some BSJA winnings!
People will pay allsorts of money for a huge 'pop' - regardless of issues!

Agreed - he definately has something special about him!
Our TB x Welsh is poetry in motion when he moves and has a huge jump - Flint reminds me of him so much it's untrue - think that's why I have a thing for him!
smile.gif

I like him too!!! Ok he does have some bad manners occasionally but he has a wicked little jump on him and has proved himself unaff at all disciplines!!!

I think he would affiliated easily looking at pics of him and he is a nicely put together little horse.

They say its the talented ones that are quirky

I think it comes down more to what would you market him as.

BSJA horse - maybe but not for a serious rider because he's getting on now and hasn't really done a lot - so wouldn't be worth a fortune there.

first horse for kid coming off ponies - no because of the rearing/bucking/napping

allrounder - maybe but only for an experienced rider, and somebody who would never want to hack out alone.

I agree he is a gorgeous horse, I just think getting a lot of money for him would be problematic because he is very much inbetween the market - not safe enough or straightforward enough for just a fun allrounder, and too old and relatively inexperienced to be worth much as a competition horse.

That was the problem we had with selling Paris, because of her age and lack of recent competition, and she didn't even have the issues that Flint does.

well i'm just basing my opinion on the horses i know and have seen sold lately...my youngster (5) who had loads of talent and was gorgeous, had issues like rearing when she wanted and this put people of...ended up getting £1200 for her as she needed a home
frown.gif

I personaly wouldnt buy him as he rears (sometimes) and bucks (sometimes) not to mention he is grey and being a quick dash kind of groomer he would be green all the time
blush.gif

However Taking into account his age and quirks I would only pay £1000 at the most, however I am putting a price he would get up here, and the horse world is so small in the north of Scotland he would be dam near imposible to sell on.
