I need to get my boy to Old Malton, Yorkshire, which is about 200 miles away for a CT scan. I want to bring him home the next day.

I have a trailer but AA route finder gives the journey as 4hrs 45 mins so I was wondering how much it would cost to send him by horse transporter - it would be more comfortable for him and easier for me.

Does anyone have any idea of the cost or recommendations for transport?

I have no idea re costs but i would highly recommend Julie Magnus. Her website is www.jmrt.co.uk . She transported my 2 weanlings a couple of years ago and she was excellent. They travelled extremely well, and she was fantastic to deal with. I would recommend her to anyone i was that pleased with her service.

look on www.findhorsetransport.com

Depending upon your insurance company you maybe able to claimthe transport costs down.

If you go with your horse then you can make sure everything is ok and then book into a B&B near the vets and return the next day.

Would go for an individual load

my new one came by transporters, who were coming to the town anyway and the cost was £200 for 140 miles. i had a quote from newmarket based people to travel down and get her for £300.all the other quotes were around the £300 mark

Thanks everyone - it looks like a transporter would be too expensive. I worked out that the diesel would cost me in the region oof £100 - I'll just have to stop halfway to give him a bit of a break and leave very early in the morn.
Thanks for all your help
