I have just moved into a new house with land and stables, my horses are now there but a friend of mine who I get on with very well is wanting to come. I am quite excited about this. I have the room (stables and turn out) but not sure how much to ask. Buying the house has seriously broken the bank, so a little extra money will come in handy. I'm not going to charge commercial rates, but was wondering how much people think is fair. I wouldn't be looking to take anyone else and if she didn't come wouldn't want anyone else.
I've no menage but there is one I use less then 5 minutes down the road (my instructor) which could be used. We have fantastic hacking and there will be all year turn out and me onsite to feed am/pm t/o bring/in rug change etc and do a "full livery" service 2-3 days a week!
For two ponies any ideas?

What are other livery yards charging around you for similar services? I'd be thinking perhaps £20 per stable etc per week, then another £10 per day for full livery, unless you come to the arrangement that she does yours in return on other days to give yourself a break.. Be very clear what ground rules you want in advance.

I would firstly check out whether you will need any insurance if you have a 3rd party on your property and are charging them. You will need to cover this cost plus other areas too

I had a friend keep her pony on my land for a while. The public liability on the house insurance does not cover horses owned by someone else but as the owner of the land you are liable if they cause any damage by escaping. Therefore you will need public liability insurance if they stay on your land irrespective of what the owner pays. You will also need care and custody insurance if you are handling anyone else's horses. Even if your friend has insurance it will not cover you if you are sued for damages.
I added this to what it cost me to have my friend's pony here in terms of additional muck removal, water, electricity, hay in the field etc etc and needed to charge £125pm to not be at a loss having them here.
