Hi just want some help please

i bought my horse at 6 months old he is now 3 and im really debating if to sell him as i me and my partner are wanting to buy a house and i wont be able to afford him, i cnt bare to be without him bt if the right person would buy him i would have to let him go, i dnt feel like i have enough time for him at all and like i said i really need the money , he is a gypsy cob standing at 14.1 hoping to get 14.2 14.3, white with brown a couple brown patches, when i had him he was put into his stable near my house for about 4 weeks to settle in and so i could spend time with him, we connected straight away and after just over a week i was plaiting his main and tail brushing him on every part of his body whilst he was being tired up and picking his feet out, because he was my first foal and first horse i do admit i didnt really no wat to do with a foal so i mothered him to tge extreme which sometimes wasnt a good idea as every time i left the stable he would rear at the door as he didnt want me to go and he wouldnt even let anybody else even stroke him! Which as silly as it sound i liked the fact he trusted just me, after 2 weeks i was easily taking him for walks everday up the road and he easily got used to cars and tractors, i know im going on abit bt i want everbody to know his story so u cn tell me how much hes worth as i dnt think he is worth the same as a normal cheap cob because i thinks hes amazing and will always be, bt it might be me being bias because hes my baby 😊 so basically he was doing great passed loads of fears everthing u could think of we did, he would follow me through the field across the road and up the yard without me holding him, thn i turned him out for a year as advised by loads of people so he cn become a horse again and not a baby lol and to turn him away to mature so he was away in a huge field for year with about 20 horses which were basically wild! I went to see him about once a month as he got checked on daily by yard owners thn near the end of the year i hadnt seen him for about 2 months maybe more as i had a few family issues i went over to him and he just stared at me and ran away it was like he hated me and looked at me like i was nobody, it absolutely broke my heart after about 2 hours i was able to put a head collar on him he was a nightmare whichwas understandable he loaded him up and took him to his new yard which he is at nowi literally had to start all over again after about 2 month of bad attitude crying and patience he started trusting me again and to this day i cn honestly say i cn get him to do anything he has always been great with the Farrah and vet, i bought him thinking he was going to grown to about 15, he is to small for me to keep i cn ride him bt its unfair all the time. He has had a sadle and bridle on no bother wat so ever girth tightened aswell lunged loads of times sat on him loads bareback once with saddle on never tryed a thing so basically just wondering how much if i do decide to sell him for ? I thought 1000 at least there no way my babys going cheap manly because i want someone who know wat there doing to have him and appreciate him some people have said it to high bt he truly is going to be great (sorry for big explanation guys )

Personally i would look at the sites for sale and put in his age and breed and look at whats for sale with his experience, then see how much their going for. Then at least you'll be able to get a general idea.

Sorry but £1000 is WAAAY over the odds for an unbroken gypsy cob atm. Is he gelded? To give you an idea, a girl who rents a field near me has just sold a nice 3-year old colt for less than £200.

Unfortunately - you thinking he's amazing doesn't automatically make him worth more. He sounds like a perfect nice little thing, but nothing stands out as making him any different to the hordes of similar beasts that are on the market for very little money.

Ultimately a horse is only worth what someone's willing to pay - so you can advertise him at whatever you want, but only time will tell if you'll get any serious enquiries at that sort of price. I've spent more than that on unbroken 3 year olds - but they're pure bred, from a good breeder, and from a reasonably niche breed. I certainly wouldn't pay that for a bog standard cob type!

I cn back him myself properly thats not a problem its just i need the money, and i bought him for 350 so no way hes going for 400 after all the work iv put in.

ditto as he stands he isn't really worth a lot unless he is conformationally amazing. But if you need the money at least by selling you aren't paying livery.

There are a lot of animals of his type with a good attitude so will be easy to break so there is plenty for buyers to choose from.

3-400... max

backed ones are going for only double that so now where near 1k sadly!!

sorry not what you want to hear but buyers market and gypsy cobs are lovely but very common to buy

Many traditional cob ponies are gorgeous characters with friendly natures, so basically you have a 3 yr old unbacked gelding. Even with good conformation and markings, you are unlikely to get the sort of money you'd like.
He's priceless to you but not quite so to a buyer.
