Can anyone tell me how much we could charge for the following for one night of stabling (for an event near by)....

stabling for horse on a small private yard (5 stables) with rubber matting and bedding
able to use kitchen facilities and bathroom (with shower)
park their horsebox next to stables

do they provide their own forage?

So how much for one night? One of the organisers of the event suggested £30 per horse?

We have had it anything from £5 to £25 but the facilities have never been as good as yours.

As for forage, we always ask the yard if we could buy some.

I've always provided my own forage and never ever had the use of a shower, that would be blissful! TBH I'd rather take my own hay/haylage as then I know what I'm getting.

I normally pay £20-£25 but don't usually get rubber matting or a shower, so £25-£30 sounds reasonable. Other factor is how close are you to the event?

I nearly fell over when I saw Powderham were charging £55 for stabling for 1 night - daylight robbery IMO and I would have found somewhere else to stable had I needed to!

We stable over several times a year and most places charge £25.00 and we always take our own hay and feeds. With only having 5 boxes you would probably get just 1 person booking your whole yard which is what we tend to do but at £30 per horse its getting a bit steep

I think £30 sounds about right especially as you have rubber matting which will reduce bedding costs. Overnighters normally have to provide all their own hay and feed, as SC said, most will prefer to anyway.

id say £25 as it sounds a lot nicer than £30 and you will have them flooding back next year!

i think £30 would be ok if you were on site for the show but as they have to travel i say £25 is fairer and let them provide own hay unless they specifically ask to use yours.

If its a BE event you tend to go through the secretary and its their fixed rate - £20 per night. If not thats what I still charge but it ranges from £15-£25 at private yards. Depends if someone is bringing 1 or 5 I suppose!

Powderham charged £50 a night which I thought was incredibly steep for onsite stabling.
