Have started Samba off now and she long reins lovely and listens well. Have been on her a few times and again she listens well she knows walk on and stand when ridden and takes a lot of encouragement to have a trot. She was bought as a ride and drive with colt at foot so havent just climbed on a unbroken horse, shes 7 so prob hasnt done much in 2-3 years as two foals now.

My aim is to get her out now her foal is weaned and see if I can get her moving off the leg more. She has proven unflappable around the farm and lead out in traffic fine so not too worried about a spooky hack but will go out with bombproof horse. Now my big IF is if I cannot get her moving forward on my own I might send her away to be schooled ideally just to be a bit more responsive ride in walk trot and maybe canter (havent tried that yet). At the moment she doesnt mind me being up there but just has no idea what my legs are asking. I probably need someone on the ground for her to follow but I dont always have some one willing at the moment and I only have grazing and no school.

What would be the prices of a few weeks schooling? Thinking in knowledgable hands this may take a couple of weeks to a month? I am around dover/ashford area but at the moment this is just a thought as I would like to think I can do this on my own but at the same time I am very willing to get some help if I feel its not going as planned, this pony from the sales might have just found herself a forever home rather than being a project :D

Thanks for reading I will share my rice pudding with maple syrup if you get this far :D

It might pay you to have an instructor come out that has plenty of experience of young horses. They should be able to help you get her going forwards properly. The other alternative is to do some long reining with her and work on voice aids that you can carry through to use under saddle.

I have no school, would instructors be willing to teach in a field marked out as a school?

She long reins well and this is still a work inprogress so this schooling idea is a what if. Im planning to move in the spring to a new area so my aim is to go with a nice riding and possibly driving horse; I wont have friends/family about to help as much so would like most work done here. I genuinely have no idea of cost so would like to start saving soon if I need to.

alot of instructors are more than willing to come and help regardless of whether you have a school or not. Mine is great and more than happy to use any one of the fields. I know many others who will also.
If it does come down to schooling livery then you will be looking at between £100 and £200 per week on average.
