Hi, just wondering if anyone has had foot balance x rays taken recently and how much they paid?
I asked for a quote from my vet and was quoted nearly £600. Just to be clear, this is just 2 x rays per hoof. It seems excessive...

I paid nearly £1000 for a lameness check and x rays of hocks, stifles and an ultrasound of the suspensories back in October. £600 just for 4 foot x rays sounds expensive, can you shop around?

I generally get them done when they are in the clinic for other stuff, so it generally isn’t that much. £100-200ish?

I've had 3 sets done over the past 3 years and they've all cost around £600. I got 6 images with the first set and 4 with the others.

I paid about £255 for 3 views of one foot This broke down to £195 Radiology fee, just over £20 per view so I would expect 4 images to be under £280.

On top of that callout fee but the vet was already out to re-examine and £29 for sedation.

Eta that's including vat

The prices i quoted would be the same whatever was x rayed, the same basic set up fee then a price per image.

That sounds a lot.
My vets call out fee is about £35 , then sedation at say £60. X-ray see up fee is about £190. And the images themselves something like £16 per image.
So even if you took 3 images of each foot , you're looking at under £450. Obviously less if you're just doing fronts or backs.

So that £600 sounds like a lot.

The last set done in December was £250, including call out and 2 x rays on 2 hooves. No sedation required as she believes she is a trick pony. The vet took quite a few images, for her own peace of mind, but charged for the required ones only.

I had some done last year. £480 for both front feet inc call out at £50/60. That didn’t include sedation as he is happy to stand on the blocks nicely. I can’t remember how many images it was tho, sorry.
