How much hay shall I buy to last till November

I need to buy hay for my horse of 15.2 hands enough hay to last until October November time. He is fed 1 litre a day as well. I have seen a local man selling 1 tonne for 100 euros. Is 1 tonne enough? Each ball is 250kg. First time ever had to buy my own so just not sure of buying quantity. Any suggestions, thanks.

Your horse should be eating about 2% of it's body weight per day. My 15.2hh weighs 500Kg so should be eating 10-12Kg per day. Assuming your horse needs 10Kg per day then 1 bale at 250Kg would last 25 days...so you'd need about 4 bales to last until November.
Obviously you need to take into consideration his condition and the amount of hard feed your giving him.
