So my unhorsey but rather wonderful OH decided to make up Buds haynets for me tonight and weighed them to make sure he got it right (bless). He then decided to tell me he'd been thinking whilst making up Buds haynets. It will take my horse 11weeks and 6 days to eat a TONNE of hay. Of course he worked it out in his head and its inbetween 5 and 6 days if that makes me any less shocked. Thanks love... Just what I wanted to hear going into winter.
Anyone else worked out hay in this way to make you feel a bit ill? (Mine gets 12kg of hay per 24hrs as hes 610kg and gets 600g of balancer as well now hes come off fast fibre before he needs it again when he starts to drop weight - how he drops weight with that amount of hay I don't know!)

I never thought of it that way, but that's about the amount mine gets too. Crikey.

I never thought of doing the maths before, but it would also enable me to check what each big bale weighs based on how long it lasts.

A large round we worked out weighs about 250kg. Dont have an unhorsey OH that makes your horses haynets and feeds up and loves maths as well (i know what am I doing complaining -super lucky to have a boyfriend that makes up haynets, feeds, changes rugs, picks out feet, mucks out, poo picks and puts up jumps and wont get on a horse!)
