Hi All

Basically our yard livery price has just been put up quite considerably  without a loto notice as well as having hay taken out and now having to source our own and other things happening so im after knowing whether i still have a good deal ....

So what does everyone pays for DIY livery on a small 10 horse private yard(Stable, turnout, school 20x40, rug warmers, communal tack room, nice yard well maintained with access to paid facilities rug wash, vending machines etc) particularly interesed from people in the Devon area ......

Tea and biscuits for anyone who replies :)

Kerry, I have kept my livery the same at £30 a week DIY but haylage will have to increase this year as the costs of making it have increased dramatically - wrap alone works out at about £7 a bale! Bedding is on top of that. www.ballhillequestrian.co.uk

As suspected..........If only you were closer!! you facillities are a lot nicer :o

If you know of any livery yards or have any contacts Newton Abbot - Totnes area feel free to PM Me

Did your livery find a horse in the end?

No, she wanted a gleaming black stallion, but her ability was for a lovely riding school plod. Luckily she decided life was better without having her own horse. I also don;t include bedding in that price either. I can understand yards putting up the prices as everything costs so much more, which is why I have never included hay and bedding in the price. If the haylage costs me more to make then they liveries have to pay more to cover it. And bedding is at cost plus a small amount to cover the disposal. Still a good price but it will increase if suppliers increase it. I do not allow liveries to bring in their own haylage/hay as that is a source of income to me, and my costs are worked around the total package. Also with the quality of some peoples hay that is around, I don;t want that going in my muck heap as we spread ours and I know there is no ragwort in my haylage. i will have no idea with stuff that is brought in so could risk spreading ragwort on my fields

I'm paying £20 for one of my horses - then when go a seond one, I only have to pay £15 for him. I know a yard down the road charging £16 (no facilities) and another charging £30 (has indoor school) in the other direction

Small private yard (12 stables), large paddocks that are immaculately kept and always seem to have loads of grass, 20x40 menage, kitchen & feedroom, individual tack lockers, washroom (which is soon to be fitted with hot water) and miles of off road hacking.

Thanks for that i can understand increased costs however this has doubled over night and prices only went up in April to cover the increased costs, the price is quite inflated considering the surrounding yards of similar comparison where livery is generally £20-£25 tops....
