I've enquired about sharing a horse and riding 2/3 times a week, I'm not sure if stable duties would be involved but would assume that they are. The owner has come back to me saying that she is looking for a contribution of £20 a week-do you think this sounds about right?
I realise that it works out as being more cost effective than having a lesson or a hack once a week, but I was thinking that about £60 a month would be my limit really as I don't want to stretch myself too much financially. I haven't even met the horse yet so don't want to get ahead of myself in case it doesn't work out, but he sounds ideal, and I wouldn't want to lose out on an opportunity for the sake of a few quid. I do have to consider my petrol costs too as I estimate the yard is a good 20 mins away from me at least. I'm not on a great wage at the moment so I'm wondering if I would be taking on too much of a financial commitment.
I do have my own horse but am lucky in that her livery is free as she is kept at an aunts on grass livery, and my parents help out with shoeing costs etc. The thing is she has a tendon injury which will affect what work she can do in the future, I'm slowly bringing her back into work but really want to get more involved in riding as I've had such a long break from it and will really miss being able to jump.
Hope that all makes sense, I would appreciate your thoughts!
