how much is this worth?

Why not offer them £950? If she has good enough conformation, etc...she could make a great riding horse.
I should not have read this thread. Now I want another horse!:mad:Must win lottery...

seen a very smart filly, she is 11 months old, a quarter horse cross irish cob, palamino to make 15hh. how much do you reckon she is worth? she has been well handled.

Unfortunately you are paying for the novelty of a) a palamino b) quarter horse.

£500 for the reality of the horse
£1500 for the fact that some rich kid will love it and mummy and daddy will pay that ;)

Agreed - although i'd go in with £850 and go up to £950 if i really liked her.

I paid £1800 for a yearling (5yrs ago though with good AES breeding) and it's the best thing i did, she'll never be sold, so to me she was worth it :)
Go with your gut feeling when you go and see her :)

my other half was hoping you would all talk me out of it.lol!!! very very keen! was just thinking about resale value in the future with her only to make 15hh, might keep her though :-)

Ah, but she would be a 15hh weight carrier, and probably very quiet with her being quarter horse cross Irish cob. That's a very nice practical riding horse. Strong, enduring, should be pretty fast and agile with the quarter horse blood too.
And the cob side should give her lots of lovely flowing mane/tail/feather...and she's a palomino to boot! Something flashy too...another plus!

I would say resale wise - if you could bear to part with her - she could fetch £1500 plus once she's broken and riding, more if she has a bit of experience or shows any special talent.

Selling for £1500 would not even break even if keeping it for 3 years until its 4, whatever is paid for it now.

Well, the economy might improve over those three years...or of course the OP could keep the horse:D

I'm basing my numbers on what I would pay for any horse in today's economic climate. And at the moment, I wouldn't pay more than that for a freshly broken and riding horse. Some people might, but I was raised to be rather thrifty:o

Depends on the horse. I paid that for my highland yearling and more for F as an unbroken 3 y/old. But they're show quality highlands so they do command a higher price. Wouldn't expect to get a backed PRE or similar for that price either!

While you mention paying a lot for a palomino, I spotted one that is just so PRETTY all sense of reason and how ridiculous it would be for me to buy a not even 4 year old for nearly 6 grand has gone out the window!

Maybe someone will sell him on again when he has had a bit more experience and he can come live with me :-)

£1500 would be easy to make I think and I like the sound of her OP :-)

Totally understand that show quality purebred horse's are worth more than cross breeds due to breeding, etc.
But a nice riding horse shouldn't have to cost the earth, IMO, unless it has lots of experience and is bombproof, in the ribbons, etc.

this is her as a baby, hope they wont mind me putting this on here! soo in love :-)

My YO just picked up a 5 month year old registered Section D palomino, expected to make 14.2 hh. She paid £500 for her. She was completly unhandled, she is now 7 months and is coming along very nicely :) This is her

haha, she is isnt she, my only reservation is I wanted something about a hand bigger so that my other half would be able to ride later on, but I have to say she has rather caught my eye....hmmmm if i go and view I will come back with her no doubt :-)

oh bless, I love how her front legs are white above the knees :-)

She is an absolute little poppet. In the space of 2 months, she has gone from being scared of people, too loving human interaction! YO can put her headcollar on without a fuss, pick legs up with no fuss and lead. I led her in the outside school for the first time at the weekend and she was an angel (YO took the 8 month YO, whos a complete madam :p)

I have arranged to go and view here tomorrow!!!!! I have some more pics, hope they wont mind me showing you, so excited!

As a baby, pink skin bless her
