Just curious really, as some people on here seem to own multiple pairs of beautifully fancy boots, gilets and breeches. Not to mention gazillion sets of MatchyMatchy™ gear ;)

I'm not entirely guilt free on this count, as I have three pairs of long riding boots, some pretty fancy breeches (why has Cavallo stopped making the Cher breech??), not to mention my western show gear...

Just curious!

Lol mine is worth waaaaayyyyy less than my horses'! I do admit to 4 pairs of riding boots (short everyday ariat h2o ones with chaps, long winter mark Todd ones, competition short MH ones with gaiters, and long MT black field boots for showing. But 2 of those 4 came from eBay and one from Equestrian Clearance!
Breeches i tend to spen about £40 to £50 and have 4 pairs. Tops tend to be eBay too! But very rarely match my horse!
Now if we started talking value of their boots, their numnahs, their rugs etc etc...

Lol my horsie wardrobe is worth no much at all!! In fact I think I would struggle to give my riding clothes to charity!
My hats are quite expensive, too of the range champions, I don't think you should scrimp when it comes to your head!
My boots are ariats as they are lovely to ride in but that is it!! Normally I wear my Saxon jods and £6 wellies!! I get filthy at the yard so I never splash out on posh jods and tops/coats... I would feel awful wallowing through the mud and poo picking in posh clothes!

Weirdly though my non-horsie wardrobe is worth a lot, I have a passion for designer handbags and shoes, especially Chanel and Louboutins lol!!

I even have a seperate chest of draws for my horse clothes to keep them away from my nice clothes!! In fact the horse jumper I'm wearing now I got as a hand me down when I was 15 (I'm now 28!), it had a slight hole in the cuff. That's quite embarrasing actually!!

If I do buy posh horse clothes I tend to never wear them to the yard, I use a smart toggi hoody for lounging round the house, I just can't bear to get poo and mud on it lol!!

My horse wears nice tack but I generally don't think about what I look like when I ride, so yes I couldn't give my horsie wardrobe away.

Not very much, because I am a tight Northerner and I tend to wear/repair and replace in that order. My Hacking jacket was bought second hand by my mum (for her to wear) when I was 4, my navy hunting coat was an ebay bargain, hat obviously was brand new, boots were a present to myself for work achievements over 5 years ago (and still my only new pair ever!). Aside from breeches and boots I don't buy specific horsey clothes to ride/work in, Lidl and Aldi bargains suit me fine :-)

errmm, I have two pairs of long boots, both over £300 to buy, and a fair amount of stuff with Pikeur or Cavallo or Anky or Kyra on them. And just bought a gorgeous Wallensteyn jacket.....but it isn't THAT much, really......:o

I look like a pauper, holes in boots, zips on boots bust, 1 brown gaiter, 1 black gaiter, a real state, my only saving grace is I onnly wear Pikeur breeches! My horse on the other hand is SUPER smart, he doesn't want for anything! :)

Not very much, and not matchy-matchy at all.
New pair of Pikeur denim full-seat breeches from Burghley, they're lovely, and raise my game a little.
Oldish pair of nice brown lightweight Cavallo breeches that I spilt a bit of bleach on, dammit.
Black thermal irideon breeches for winter.
Grey thermal pikeur breeches.
Green rts-bentex breeches which don't go with anything, which I'm hoping ChloeGHE will want!
Various sports shirts, usually from Lands End in the end of season sale.
One nice Ariat black sleeveless top. Doesn't go with anything else though...
Brown ariat Grasmeres for winter, Brown ariat lace-ups and gaiters for summer.
3 really nice K-way fleeces that I bought on hols in S.A. when I realised how great they were, cheap and brilliant fit, but the only practical colour they had was dark grey. Ugh.
Berghaus bodywarmer in bright pink.
Various jackets - Musto, Ariat, TK Maxx ski ones, and a new one from Stormtech that I got at Burghley.
Hmmm. Actually, it's a bit of a mess, and nothing goes with anything else, but it's all very functional.
When I win the lottery, I'll start trying to look like a model in a Pikeur ad. Not before. ;) ;)

I have two pairs of long boots, both over £300

Yikes! My boots are all eBay bargains - my brown boots used to belong to Lynn Russell, however they don't seem to have come with any special showing mojo in for me ;)

You know a while back there used to be a real problem in NY with teenagers getting mugged for limited edition sneakers...lucky this doesn't happen at riding events!

When it come to my horse tack, boots, rugs I have no limits. I draw the line on expensive white breeches as the cheaper ones wash better and it doesn't break my heart when they are done, (sat on a chair with wet paint at a show a couple of weeks ago!!) but everything else has to be the best, except my yard clothes not that bothered about them. My own wardrobe for Fashion *cough* if you would call it that!! it kills me to spend good money on impractical things that have no purpose!! I go for the Primark version every time!! LOL

;)

Oh goodie, glad you bought some, do you love them too? Did you get the high waist ones?

Sorry, just happily converting the masses to these breeches. Am looking forward to HOYS as I need a new pair, my single button ones are coming apart at the seams!

Uh. Not much :D

I have 1 pair of comp jodhpurs, that were on sale, about AU$40, a pair of full seat jodhpurs that were the same, and pair of cream full seat jods that I've had for years that I got at a Salvo Army store that are about to fall apart and a pair of RM Williams jods that were on sale for about AU$80. And whatever jackets/shirts etc that I have.

Then I have a pair of Eurohunter short boots that are scuffed like crazy that I wear with a pair of brown gaiters I got a couple of years ago and are ripping at the seams, and a pair of Dublin Advanced Zip boots I have for comps that I use with my polished up gaiters till I get new ones.

My comp jacket I bought 2nd hand for I cant remember how much, waistcoat was AU$150 on sale, shirt was AU$30 and stock was AU$15. Stock pin I managed to pick up for free :D

Apart from my breeches (Pikeur denim breeches x 2 pairs, MT Winter breeches, Pikeur white breeches, Gorringe beige for hunting), I wear a pile of rubbish to ride in. I have 2 faithful GAP hoodies that are over 10 years old and ripped, stained and dreadful. I have a Georg Schumacher winter coat, a Whitaker blouson for summer and a Lazy Jacks and a Tottie body warmer. I have 3 *riding* t-shirts, 2 short sleeves and 1 long sleeve, all OH rejects and assorted thermal tops. Cheap and cheerful :D

Boot wise I muck out in Ariat jod boots and I ride in Ariat Bromonts.

I am glad that I'm not the only one that doesnt look perfect at the yard! I would find it impossible to keep clean as I'm normally covered in dust / mud / slobber depending on the season ;)

I do have a fair few pairs of ariats and gaiters which is where I spend my money but jackets and gilets are all show bargains, t-shirts I tend to get polo shirts from work and breeches are all caldene full seated ones.

Legend's wardrobe is worth far more than mine - scarily so!!

Oh goodie, glad you bought some, do you love them too? Did you get the high waist ones?

See, I had a pair of Pikeur denim breeches and hated them - too stiff, not fitted enough - now I wear Goode Rider denims which look great and are v comfy.

My showjacket and hacking jacket are both Mears, courtesy of eBay. I am lucky to be small enough to pick up outgrown kids' stuff. Next I will be looking for an outgrown games or PC pony :D

oh dear :-) I am bored, so I'll tot up

Oh dear, I have a pair of Cavallo boots, and Petrie Anky elegance. But also a pair of Dubarry's (which I live in) and Ariat Bromonts. My breeches are Cavallo, pikeur, RTS and Schumacher. Tops are generally whatever, Gap, Zara but a few Anky, pikeur thrown in for good measure, but have lots of coats. Although my best winter one is a Bilabong ski jacket. I dread to think how much it all costs (infairness I try to wait for sales to buy things).

The horses'- a LOT :p they all have the 'best' stuff and all VERY MatchyMatchy :D

Me- NOT a lot at all. Just have lots of polo tops from Joules and my breeches are dirt cheap ones. Only expensive thing I have is 2 pairs of Ariat Grasmeres and a few Ralph Lauren big pony polo tops.

If I had bought it all at RRP quite a bit but thankfully that's not the case!...

All my lovely Mountain Horse stuff (long boots, jacket, wet weather gear, thermals, boot, chaps, gloves, hat, breeches) was kindly given to me by my sponsor, and I am VERY grateful for it as it has saved me a small fortune :)

Also my hats Charles Owen kindly sponsored me with in 2009, and they are still going strong

For snazzy breeches (Cavallo) I buy them 2nd hand usually from eBay - got a pair the other day for £28!!!!!!!!!

Gilet I have tracked down a matchy matchy one in childs size which as a result is only £18!!!!!

Mears hacking jacket was reduced from £250 to £50 so snapped that up in a tack shop (arms on previous one were about 2inches too short by then!!)

Black jacket I just bought 2nd hand from SpottedCat and it's gorgeous fit's a treat! :)

Some VERY kind HHOers have provided me with matchy matchy stuff :) but all other matchy matchy is a case of hunting out a bargain, thankfully not many people like green so it's usually reduced ;)

Stud girth was a total steal at £30 real leather black Funnel range girth which was reduced coz last in stock/range :)

Rugs I found a mega site last year called PROTUFF who make gorgeous TO rugs and Soap has those because they are fab and also VERY good value for money :)

I like to buy stuff 2nd hand because it has then already been broken in, and it's lots cheaper! and no I'm not from Yorkshire! ;)

Oh goodie, glad you bought some, do you love them too? Did you get the high waist ones?

No, I got the new low waist ones, they're lovely and sooo flattering but feel a bit weird, i'm used to high-waist. The three hooks at the waist pinch if I don't tuck my shirt in... one way to ensure neatness I guess! They're gorgeous though, perfect fit and material. The new cut is longer in the leg (the Regular is plenty long enough for me, and I usually need Long) and different (i'm a 26" in these, usually a 28"). saving up for another pair actually...

brighthair, how COULD you add it all up? I just daren't... breeches alone, for yard, probably adds up to about £600. argh. good job they last forever. It costs me thousands to be not matchy-matchy, I dread to think what it'd cost to co-ordinate beautifully all the time!

Like Firewell, I love designer stuff (draw the line, reluctantly, at Louboutins though), but not around the horses!

2 x ariat short boots (£100 each)
ariat chaps (£80)
tretorn boots (£290)
long leather riding boots made to measure (£350)
3 x Kingsland breeches (£130 each)
4 x Mark Todd (£60 each)
2 x Los clothing (£45 each)
2 x Pikeur (£125 each)
3 x Kingsland gilets (about £150 each)
Huge kingsland coat (£250)
Another kingsland coat (£190)
All my Tile Choice emboidered Equiport stuff, the order came to £1,100
GPA hat x 2 (£250 each)
JW velvet hat (£190)
2 x Equiport showjackets (£300 each)
about 10 showshirts mainly Kingsland and Pikeur (£30-£40 each)
3 x Kingsland hoodies (£60 each)
Several yard jackets, Mountain Horse, Pikeur etc. (around £100 each)
2 x Roekl gloves (£28 each)
Hunter wellies x 2 (£30 each?)

Basically too much but most of it has been bought for birthday/xmas presents and has been accumulated or I save up and buy it :)

At the yard i just wear big baggy t-shirts and breeches or trackies

plenty muchid imagine.......but i work full time, teach freelance on top, so i feel happy about spoiling myself and Star :) and you cant take it with you!

show boots were £650, home boots £350, but the shows boots will last me a lifetime and the home boots have done nearly 3 years now(before that i got through a £100 pair a year, so it works out the same).

im restricted to breeches by what comes up small enough and also has a full seat, as otherwise end up with bleeding seatbones, and only the expensive ones have a thick enough seat and come in 20 or 22, however i got pikeurs that are nearly 6 years old, still going strong, so again-investment.

jumpers and polo's are a mixture of horsey brands, primark, abercrombie and jack wills, so some cheapy and some £££££, but even the cheapy ones have done 2/3 years now-i look after my stuff.

i do spend a fair bit on horsey clothing (me and the horse) but i dont have to pay mortgage or rent(OH owns our house outright which is super lucky i know), or have any kids yet etc so may as well waste it whilst i can lol!

Probably not very much :P I tend to bargain shop. I do have ariat boots though, mostly because I have hyper extendable joints, and these are the only ones that stop me spraining my ankles, as well as flat arches. The ariats are just comfortable. I did, however, get them on sale at a rather reduced price...and they now have holes :(

As for shirts and stuff...I just wear normal t-shirts and jumpers, nothing expensive because they just get dirty and worn out anyway. My jods and breeches were all about £10, one of the positives of buying kids jodhpurs on sale :)

At the moment my horse's wardrobe is seriously lacking which will change in time as i start to give in to my rug and saddle cloth addiction :o I will always spend the money in decent stuff for him and even thou he is wearing some hand me downs from my last horse i dont feel too guilty. That said i will quite often buy from sales, i dont mind it things are last seasons colours.
My wardrobe is errm lacking, alot. Again i will buy from sales for me, cheap jumpers from sports stores and my breeches are all DH own brand (they fit me really well thou and always brought in a sale!). I tend to buy Joules t shirts in the sale but after a year or so work their way up to yard.
Comp gear, i did spend a bit on my jacket but figured i dont wear it as much as other stuff so should last longer so infact value for money in the long run, wishfull thinking anyone :D Same with my long boots but my Ariat Bromonts i got in a sale.
My hat wasnt cheap but neither is my head so dont count that one.
Its the bits and bobs that i collect that start to add up, i have a a thing for long funky socks :o not good.
I just never look good when i try and make an effort to dont bother, i get quite jealous of all the dressage riders that look all elegant and i cant do the same  Must be a sjer thing :p
Just off to have a look at these Pikeur denim full-seat breeches now :D

Won't add up the animal's stuff, that would be far too scary. But put it this way they are all in rambo rugs, have matchy matchy gear (saddle cloths, boots/bandages ect.) and are treated like the royalty, only one of the five miss out on the pampering and that is the little welshie.

My wardrobe consists of many different styles. I don't usually wear 'posh' clothes on the yard as like somebody else said I couldn't bear the thought of them being spoilt. Everyday clothing, you won't usually find me in an outfit that doesn't involve a little bit of JW. Riding wise I have a couple of pairs of Pikeur breeches (for competing) then I have 5 cheap pairs for everyday use. Rambo chaps. Musto jacket. Ariats for competition use. 2x HS1 hat. Joules and JW polos. Think that is most of it.:o

Not sure if this will be the case in several years time when I have to pay for it all. :o

Lol my horsie wardrobe is worth no much at all!! In fact I think I would struggle to give my riding clothes to charity!
My hats are quite expensive, too of the range champions, I don't think you should scrimp when it comes to your head!

My horse wears nice tack but I generally don't think about what I look like when I ride, so yes I couldn't give my horsie wardrobe away.

Just read this thread thinking oh dear the CR lot are really smart and glam with their pikeur breeches, and I'm such a tramp, and then I got to this post!

Love it, and I agree wholeheartedly!!! I see no point in wearing good stuff down the yard as it gets trashed so quickly as it has to be washed so much. Sadly though I can beat your horse-jumper...... I have a sweatshirt that is still going strong approximately 18 years after it was bought for me (with growing room!) this high quality ultra long lasting jumper cost the grand sum of £3 from primark :D :D

My favourite riding stuff is generally the tops I got free when I worked in pubs, my green and white oxford rugby shirt is the absolute favourite (thank you firkin brewery) but I'm often riding around advertising Grolsh or Bacardi.....

I am happy to spend money on good breeches (hate cheap breeches, yuck), boots (I seem to need stiff boots to ride remotely ok) and jackets (to stay warm and dry), but I'm a great believer in Primark for tops and tee shirts.

I have a candy striped primark tee shirt that cost £4, and have had someone come up to me and ask whether it was Gersemi and where did I find it!!!!! :o

Rugs I found a mega site last year called PROTUFF who make gorgeous TO rugs and Soap has those because they are fab and also VERY good value for money :)

Ah! Young lady I have just googled their website, I will mention that you recommended them, I was looking for cheap and cheerful full neck TO rugs, but not too heavy, these seem to fit bill!

oooh I love this post! SO interesting!!

Maybe I should go and try some pikeur breeches, you all seem to love them! I do like my £19 saxon ones though because they are so stretchy and comfy.

I obviously do have nicer stuff for shows, a pikeur navey jacket and a caldene hacking jacket, I still look a bit scruffy though for some reason! I'm like Vam, I just cannot seem to pull off the dressage diva look :(

Examples:-

Just for Katt (can you beat this ultra fashionable, £££££ look??) A normal horsie day looking sexy in uber expensive hand me down jeans (these have holes, in ummm the not most practical of places!!), my mums boots, a size too big (forgot my own this day) and ex boyfriends jumper.. of course matching beautifully with a witney exercise rug!! (my tack is brand new jeffries, sprenger and black country but you cant tell eh!) :p

Show attire, still looking scruffy (me not horse)!! Shirt untucked, tut tut!! I think you can just make out how filthy dusty my BP is..

and when i'm girl about town... I dont think you would know I was the same person?! I always match my dress to my shoes ect.

I do love dressing up my horse and making him look pretty in bandages and nice saddle pads, I just like myself being scruffy at the yard. Its my downtime and the time when I dont have to look 'pretty' and I can be slovenly and messy and play in the dirt. I could never throw out my ancient clothes, they are 'antiques' :P.

Even my threadbare wardrobe actual cost would add up I'm sure, but then if you averaged it out by age, it would look far better! ;) I have loads of polo shirts (mostly Joules somehow?!) ranging from 6yrs old to within a year old that I wear when riding. The older ones worn for riding at yard/messy jobs, the newer ones saved for lessons/putting on top of show shirt to leep clean etc.

Jods- I have 7 or 8 pairs that I rotate through similar to my polo shirts. Never spend more than £30 on a pair, including my comp ones. (2 of the pairs out of the 7 or 8 are biege comp ones saved for competing/lessons and both are at least 2 years old, if not 3 or more!)

Boots- I got a lovely pair of Toggi canyon boots for Christmas last year from the inlaws, plus lovely Joules wellies from Mr FJ. Mountain Horse SC3S short boots (1 pair for comps/lessons, 1 pair- the previous comp pair!- for riding at home) bought when reduced to half price. My comp pair are a year old, the other pair about 3! Chaps for home riding are at least 3yrs old and Ariat leather gaiters bought this year for comp/lessons were ebay bargain.

Jackets- similar to t-shirts, if I get a new jacket for "non horsey" stuff, the old one then gets relegated to horsey stuff! ;) I have 2 "old" waterproof jackets I use for horsey stuff. In fact, one jacket I still wear at the yard is an O'Neill ski jacket that I got free when ski repping in 2003! :o I did get treated to a lovely Joules Mary King jacket at Blair by Mr FJ though and love it. :) Also have a RC jacket that my sister bought me for Christmas last year. (see a trend with Christmas presents...?!)

Hat- I have a Charles Owen Pro II, used for everything- daily riding, comps, lessons, the works. Coming up 2yrs old now though and really needing replaced. This was another Christmas present!

Gloves are just Roekel £25 ones, buy a new pair for comps and use the old pair for other stuff. Replace comp ones when needed (once a year prob) and carry on the cycle!

Won't even contemplate totting up Hopalong's wardrobe cost...!
