How much per hour would you pay to feed and turnout?

Just wondered what the going rate would be for a person to come and help feed and turnout for a couple of hours per morning just in the week. Approx 6 horses to feed/turnout and then take hay to field based ones. I am looking for someone to do this and a couple of people were expecting £8 an hour which I thought was quite a lot. If location makes a difference I am near Reading Berkshire.
Thanks for your help.

I don't think £8 an hour is excessive, considering that it is only a couple of hours work and they will presumably need to travel to and from your yard, so fuel costs have to be factored into the cost.

I know one of our local yards pay £8 an hour to their staff.

ETA: Also whether the person is required to do the work unsupervised or not - someone who is experienced enough to do the work on their own is likely to cost more than someone who can only work under supervision.

I charge £7.50 a time to do someones two horses. Depending on her requirements I either do morning duties or evening duties. Morning duties are feeding, mucking out, hay, water, changing rugs and turn them out. Evening duties is just bringing them in, feeding and changing rugs. I charge £7.50 standard, regardless of whether its morning duties or evening duties. Morning duties take me about 40 mins, evening duties take about 5-10mins. I've actually been told I charge too little! The yard is about 5-10mins up the road from me.

Hiya, i get paid £8 per hour (unless its riding then its more!) and have done for a few years, so i don't think thats too much. Someone younger/with less experience shouldn't be as much x

I was charging £8 per hour for yard duties 4 years ago!! Don't think this is expensive at all, as the others have said you have to pay your fuel costs, clothing for work, tax, NI contributions if you are registered self employed, so pretty cheap really.

wow I was robbed! Worked at a yard for 5 hours a day 3 days a week, doing turning out, feeding, mucking out etc of around 8 - 10 horses, completly unsupervised (yard owner was often out of the country too) for £5 an hour

I'm paid about £8-£10 per hour depending how long it takes to do 3 horses and whether I ride or not (I'm paid £40 for the day....can take 2.5 hours, can take 5)

I charge about the same (£8/£10) for a horse for a day to turnout, muckout etc.

I'm near Newbury, Berks.
