Hi all
Thinking of selling some very outgrown rugs on ebay but don't know how much to put as starting price. Advice, please?

4'0" Masta standard foal turnout rug, front buckles, X surcingles and fillet string. 220g (med) weight. Excellent condition (outgrown before worn).
5'0" WB Landa standard turnout rug. Front buckles, X surc, leg straps. 220g. Average condition (but hood thrown in for free).
53" Treadstone turnburry standard (turnout rug). Medium weight. Front buckles, X surc, fillet string. Average condition.

My smallest horse is now 6'3" and I've squeezed and pushed her, but she won't fit in! :p

I find, usually, that a starting price of 99p gets better results than a higher figure. From past experience I'd say that it would be better to put them up for sale towards autumn, or when we get another spell of bad weather. I doubt many people are thinking about buying rugs at the moment:cool:

Devilish.

TBH rugs always fetch a decent price, the "clever" people are buying now, as they wont each the same inflated prices they would come autmn as everyone wants them then! I would start at 0.99p and maybe set a reserve of £15ea on them so they don't go for a song or something? I don't really know, don't deal in cob sizes :p

Thanks both.
Good point about selling better in the autumn...but then again maybe some folk are organised/forward planners and buy now.
I may try and see - they aren't much use to me, unless I boil wash my three horses. :p

I sold several rugs during the bad weather for a 99p start. They were old and dirty and described as such but made good money - and got me very good feedback. If you can bear to hang on to them I would wait until the Autumn, put them on for 99p, don't bother with the expense of a reserve, but make sure you have decent photos and descriptions.

I've just acquired a new pony and will be looking to kit him out now at low cost rather than waiting for the Autumn rush:)

Thanks both.

I bought two brand new Rhino Heavyweights and never used them. I put one on ebay last March and it made £40. I saved the other one until winter, put it on and it made £80. They were identical rugs. Save them until end of the year if you can.
