Just wondered how much Jed should roughly weigh. I weighed him last night and he was 570.

See i think he's ok weight wise (but dont all mothers

) but others have said he should be lighter, and as i dont have a clue about weights, i was hoping you guys may have a rough idea.

He is 15.3hh very broad as in big chest & big boned. Me and a few others think he is TB X COB.
Thank you.

Also he is between a 3 & 4 fat score!

A little over weight in summer 2007!

Not sure but my 15hh stocky built Welsh D is currently 500 but should be more around 490 and even then you have to press 'firm' to feel a rib!

I had a 16 hh broad WB who weighed about that. (the one in the canter shot, me in tweed jacket) and he would have been lighter boned, he was a bit of a fatty but bearable.

If your horse can canter uphill on grass for about half a mile without puffing like a steam train, then surely he's okay?

You should be able to "find" his ribs somehow, by palpating.

Fudge is a large built 14.3hh Welsh cob and the vet advised me that he should weigh around 490kg, so I would think your horse is about the right weight.

If he is a condition score of 3 - 4 then he may be a tad overweight, but I wouldn't worry as he has the worst of the winter to get through yet.
