Hiya, hope your all well.

My lad has lost weight this winter and I'm monitoring this by weighing him each week. He's 17.1hh, Dutch WB and at the mo weighs 553kg

On average how much should he be weighing in at?

Thankyou in advance for your help! xx :)

Sounds a very good weight to me :) I would try body scoring and see how that goes. I found info on the saracen website, or most of the other feed supplier sites should be able to help.

It's gone to the point where his saddle doesn't fit and I've had to pad it out big time. I can see his ribs and his once nice round bum now has a bit of a point to it. He has 2 feeds a day but the hay that is provided for us (at work/livery) is a bit naff. It's rye grass and has no smell to it, it's very course and brown. It's apparantly cheap but at what cost??

My WB get as much hay as he can eat and thats alot about bale and half a night fastfibre half corner manger bucket full and safe and sound handful but hes worked three hours aday

He gets as much hay as he can eat, but there is no nutritional value to it. It's horrid stuff. Can't wait until it's gone and we're back onto normal hay again.

My 17hh warmblood is about 650kgs and is just slightly too heavy. When he was 624kgs he looked perfect so i would probably aim for around 600+kgs for a horse of his stamp - is he quite fine for a warmblood?
