i have just been offered a riding for private family exercising 5 horses and she has asked how much do i want to be paid i havn't got a clue what to say as never done paid exercising before could anyone suggest what is a sensible rate it will be couple of hours a day then 2 full days at the weekend, i have been riding since i was 4 and now 22 dont have any qulifications but very experianced ???????????????????????????

I charge £10 for the first horse and £8 for every horse after that but for that money they have to be tacked up ready and untacked for me as thats what takes the time.

Remember if you are being paid then it is a wage and will need to be legal. If they are employing you they need to sort things out with insurance etc, or if you are self employed you will need insurance etc.

i really dont know i dont want to sound cheeky she asked me how much i wanted i said i didn't know i've got to go down sunday to meet her and her horses and i said we could discuss things then. im confused dont really know what to say to her. lol

well if you say something along these lines you can always come down if she feels its a bit steep - its best this way than ending up doing it for practically nothing

update : right went to see her yesterday and it's just one horse they want me to exercise 16.2hh thourgh breed hasn't been riden for 6 months they got him from a close friend friday just gone took him up the road seems quite a sweet horse they want him ridden just hacking him out walking him to get him fit~??????????? £20 for the 2 rides just a bit worried that i dont know the temperment of the horse and neither do they?????
